Lions Run Past Hounds, 2-0

PORTALES, NM – The Eastern New Mexico women's soccer team hosted Texas A&M University-Commerce on Saturday morning at Greyhound Stadium. The Hounds were handed a 2-0 loss by the Lions.

Karalie Morrison found the back of the net first in the 22nd minute to give the Lions a 1-0 advantage.

In the second half both teams continued to pressure offensively and saw some good scoring opportunities but the goaltenders on each side stood strong.

With time winding down, Leslie Campuzano managed to sneak a shot past Whitney Dockweiler to give Texas A&M-Commerce the 2-0 lead.

Eastern attempted to get the offense going in the last few minutes, including a long shot on target off a free kick from Megan Janikowski with seconds left, but Jen Peters came up with the save to preserve the 2-0 Lion victory.
 

NOTABLE STATS

  • Texas A&M-Commerce outshot Eastern, 18-9. The Lions also held an 11-4 edge in shots on goal.
  • Samantha Vasquez and Selena Casias paced the ENMU offense with two shots each.
