Tyler, Texas – Eastern New Mexico volleyball was dealt a road loss against T-#25 UT-Tyler, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon, in Tyler Texas. The Hounds drop to 1-1 in Lone Star Conference standings, 1-8 overall.

The Patriots jumped out to an early lead, using a 5-0 stretch to take a 9-3 lead. ENMU tried to chip away at the lead, but could only get within three points of UT-Tyler, 20-17 UT-T. From then, each team traded points and the Patriots closed out the first set 25-22.

ENMU could not hold the attack of UT-Tyler to start the second set. Stretches of 4-0 and 5-0, gained the Patriots a large lead, 17-8. The Hounds did not quit,
Jasmine Gannon and
Jordan O'Connor-Dempsey replied with a kill to stop the momentum for the home team. However, UT-Tyler gradually worked their way to a second set victory, 25-16.

The Greyhounds jumped out early in the third set, taking four straight points to put the score to 4-2. The four-point streak consisted off a block form
Gracelyn Stubbs and
Kali Nelson, followed by two Nelson kills. Later in the set, Eastern strung together a 5-0 streak featuring three kills from
Adriana Puni and a
Qitana Sapiga ace, taking a 15-13 lead. From then, UT-Tyler strung together six straight points, jumping out to a 19-15 lead. The Patriots went on to win the set 25-21, and take the match 3-0.
NOTABLE STATS
- UT-Tyler outmatched the Hounds in kills (48-32), digs (54-47), while ENMU lead the way in total blocks (8-6).
- Gannon was at the top of the attack with eight kills, while Nelson and Puni were close behind with six and five kills, respectively.
- Both Q.Sapiga and Rae Sapiga supplied 13 assists on the day.
- Leading the way in digs, Gannon provided 13 digs, while Puni and Daejia Rodriguez contributed nine digs.
- Stubbs added five total blocks to the Greyhound defense.
