Pitch Preview: UTPB and #1 DBU

The Greyhounds have a home and away match this week

PORTALES, N.M. – With just five games remaining this season, Eastern New Mexico Women's Soccer prepare for a pair of games this week with UT Permian Basin coming to Portales on Wednesday, Oct. 12, with kickoff slated at 5 p.m. Then, the Greyhounds hit the road against #1 DBU on Saturday, Oct. 15, with a scheduled start time of 12 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

ENMU picked up a win and a draw during last weeks competition. The Greyhounds picked up a road win against Oklahoma Christian, 1-0, with Samantha Vasquez scoring the game winning goal. Eastern concluded the week with a 0-0 draw against Texas A&M International with Samantha Jeffries making seven saves in the tie.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

So far this season, the Greyhounds have amassed a 4-7-1 standing, holding a 2-4-1 record in conference play. Statistically, ENMU have found the back of the net five times, with 6.1 shots per game, with 42.5% of shots being on goal. In defense, Eastern are allowing 1.08 goals per game, recording 74 saves this season, with a .851 save percentage.
 
Five different Greyhounds have found the back of the net this season: Tori Galindo, Kelsey Medina, Abby Ditzler, Emma Hafenbrak, and Vasquez. Hannah Grady stands out with a team lead 12 shots, along with a team high seven shots on goal. Jeffries has played every minute for the Greyhounds this season in net. The keeper has made 74 saves so far this season holding an 85.1% save percentage.
 
Around the conference, Eastern hold some of the top marks in the LSC for defense. Jeffries leads the conference with 74 saves on the season, helping ENMU lead the conference. Additionally, Jeffries holds an .851 save percentage for the Greyhounds, standing in 3rd for the conference as a individual and as a team.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS

The Falcons enter this week with a 4-5-2 standing, along with a 2-4-1 conference standing. In its most recent set of games, UTPB were handed a 3-1 loss from Midwestern State, and forced a 0-0 draw with St. Edward's.
 
UTPB are finding 1.09 goals per game with 12 goals this season and two assists. As a team, UT Permian Basin are finding 10.6 shots per game, with 50 shots on goal, with 43.9% of shots going on goal. In defense, the Falcons have let in 18 goals this season (1.64 goals allowed per game), with 35 saves, along with a 0.660 save percentage.
 
Kaylee Overmyer leads the program with five goals this season, two goals coming from the penalty spot. Cassandra Ramirez contributes three goals to the team, leading the team with 35 shots this season. The Falcons net to kept by Jenna McEnaney, playing every minute this season, and recording 35 saves this campaign.

SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS

As the number one ranked team in the nation for the past five weeks, Dallas Baptist University currently hold a 9-1-1 record, along with a 5-1-1 standing in the LSC. In its last pair of games, the Patriots bested St. Edward's 2-0, followed by a 1-0 win over Midwestern State. Before facing ENMU, DBU will take on St. Mary's on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

As a team, the Patriots are finding 17.9 shots per game (2nd in the LSC), scoring 21 goals so far this season with 19 assists. DBU have provided 82 shots on goal this season, scoring on 25.6% of their shots on target. At the other end of the field, DBU has conceded just seven goals, with 38 saves, and an 84.4% save percentage.

Up front, Annie Severide leads the team with six goals this season, while midfielder Michelle Gonzalez adds four goals and a team high four assists. Gonzalez leads the team in shots this season and was recently named LSC Offensive Player of the Week. Adrianna Schroeder has started every game for the Patriots, allowing just seven goals this season, with five shutouts this season and a 84.4% save percentage.
