PORTALES, N.M. – Lubbock Christian beat Eastern New Mexico men's soccer, 3-0, Wednesday night.
The Chaps came into Greyhound Stadium coming off a 2-1 loss to No. 8 Midwestern State in the same week the Hounds beat the same Mustangs program.
The first half provided several chances for ENMU to find shot opportunities, but LCU's backline kept the opportunities to five over the opening 45-minute span.
An open net in the 39
th minute gave the Chaps their first score of the night.
Coming into the second, the Hounds continued to find ways to get inside the attack third. However, two blocked shots and off target opportunities could not put the team on the scoreboard.
LCU added goals in the 56
th and 89
th minutes to extend its advantage.
"This game makes me think of the famous Wayne Gretzky quote," said head coach
Brandon Misuraca. "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."
ENMU is back on the pitch at University of Texas Permian Basin Saturday afternoon. The game will be livestreamed via the Lone Star Conference Network.
