Pitch Preview: Lubbock Christian and UT Tyler

Greyhounds play its final pair of games in the 2022 regular season

PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico Women's Soccer program prepare for the final week of the regular season with a home and away match. First, ENMU will head to Lubbock Christian on Tuesday, Oct. 25, with kickoff slated at 6 p.m. Then, Eastern with play it's final home game of the season on Friday, Oct. 28, as the Greyhounds will face UT Tyler at 1 p.m. Eastern will honor its seniors of the program prior to the start of the match.

LAST TIME OUT

The Greyhounds suffered a 4-1 defeat in its last outing falling to #15 West Texas A&M on Wednesday, Oct. 19. Samantha Vasquez scored for the Greyhounds in the in contest.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

Overall, Eastern hold a record of 4-10-1, suppling a conference record of 2-7-1. Offensively, the Greyhounds have scored six goals this season and have picked up three assists. ENMU are posting 5.8 shots per contest, with 46.0% of shots going on goal. On defense, the Greyhounds are allowing 1.27 goals per game, picking up 94 saves, and an .827 save percentage.
 
Vasquez leads the team with two goals this season, while four other Greyhounds have scored once this season: Tori Galindo, Kelsey Medina, Emma Hafenbrak, and Abby Ditzler. Hannah Grady leads the group with 14 shots this season, including eight shots on goal. Samantha Jeffries played every minute in net this season, making 91 stops on holding a .827 save percentage.
 
Around the conference, Eastern hold some of the top marks in the LSC for defense. Jeffries leads the conference with 91 saves on the season, helping ENMU lead the conference. Additionally, Jeffries holds an .827 save percentage for the Greyhounds, standing in 3rd for the conference as an individual.

SCOUTING THE CHAPARRALS

Having already secured a spot in the postseason tournament, Lubbock Christian has a season standing of 8-2-6 holding a conference record of 5-2-3. Recently, the Chapparals picked up a big result, beating St. Edward's University 5-1, along with a 1-0 win over Midwestern State.
 
The Chapparals come in as one of the more dangerous teams going forward in the LSC. LCU have found the net 30 times this season, 5th best in the LSC, posting 30 assists in 2022, 2nd best in LSC. Lubbock Christian record 14.1 shots per game, with a 47.8% of shots finding the goal. LCU have conceded just 14 goals this season, with 60 saves, and allowing 0.88 goals per game.
 
Lexi De La Cruz leads the group with 10 goals this campaign, sitting second in the LSC. Graycen Rasmussen has scored six times this season, while Maddie Hoel posts a team best five assists. In net, Abby Kone has played every minute of the season, making 60 saves with a 81.1 save percentage.

SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS

Entering the week, UT Tyler sits in the final playoff spot with a record of 7-3-5, holding a 2-3-5 conference standing. In its last two match, the Patriots picked up a 4-4 draw with St. Edward's, and were dealt a 3-1 loss against Midwestern State.

Collectively, the Patriots have scored 31 times (Tied 3rd in LSC), registering 25 assists (3rd in conference). The UTT attackers are finding 17.1 shots per game, with 42.2% of the shots going on goal. UT Tyler's defense has allowed 17 goals this season, an average of 1.13 goals per game, making 43 saves on the season.

Leading the Patriots in goal scoring, Samaris Alvarado has rippled the net seven times, while Jordan Colbert and Sydney Garner each have provided four goals and three assists. Camri Cecil has started every match for UTT, holding 1.10 goals against average, making 41 saves.
