SAN ANGELO, Texas – ENMU football battled with No. 3 Angelo State Saturday night in a 28-9 loss.
Angelo State began the first quarter with the ball, but an early interception gave Eastern the first points on the scoreboard as
Caden Ochoa jumped in front of a Ram's receiver and raced all the way for a 35-yard return for a touchdown.
From there, ASU scored 21 unanswered points in the first quarter.
The second quarter was a different story as the two squads traded possessions and looked to struggle to find any luck offensively. That was until
Mario Sanchez found
Asa Wondeh for a 46-yard grab before the end of the half.
The deep pass led to a 23-yard
Cooper Hamilton chip shot field goal to lower the game's deficit.
Angelo State tacked on another touchdown in the third quarter, which led to the final score of tonight's contest.
"Proud of the effort of our young men. They continued to battle and give their best effort every play. The young men could have given up but we continued to battle," said head coach
Tye Hiatt. "Our focus needs to be on getting 1% better everyday and improving our execution. We are looking forward to playing in Greyhound Stadium and in front of our home crowd this coming weekend."
ENMU is back at home next Saturday as the Greyhounds take on Simon Fraser. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and tickets are still available for purchase.
