Meander and Finau Garner LSC Weekly Honors

Meander earned LSC Defensive POTW, while Finau was awarded Special Teams POTW

RICHARDSON, Texas Zerrian Meander and Aseli Finau were named Lone Star Conference players of the week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Meander was awarded LSC Defensive Player of the Week, while Finau received Special Teams Player of the Week. The pair join Asa Wondeh and Cooper Hamilton in receiving weekly honors this season.

Meander had a night to remember in the Greyhounds win over West Texas A&M. The junior defensive back picked off a pass with 12:17 remaining in the fourth quarter and returned it nine yards to give Eastern the ball back after they took a 17-14 lead earlier in the period. He led the Hounds with 10 tackles, including a career-high 8 solo stops.

Finau picked up the honor after making a difference-making play. Down 14-10 in the middle of the third quarter, Finau blocked a punt to give the Greyhounds the ball at WT's 33-yard line. The senior defensive end had one tackle in addition to the block which led to ENMU taking the 17-10 lead on the following possession en route to the Wagon Wheel victory.

Eastern prepares for a battle with Western New Mexico for the final game of the season at Greyhound Stadium with kickoff set for 2 p.m. The football team will host Senior Day festivities beforehand.
