CANYON, TEXAS. – Eastern New Mexico women's basketball dropped a Lone Star Conference game against West Texas A&M University, 75-51 on Saturday afternoon at the First United Bank Center. Eastern fall to 9-11, 5-9 in conference play. WT move to 16-9, and 9-2.

The Hounds took its first lead of the game at 5-4, after
Iyanna McCurdy cut to the basketball, and
Natalie Stice made a layup while being fouled, then hitting the following free throw. The two teams went back and forth to set the score at 10-9 WT mid-way through the quarter. However, the Buffs closed the period on 15-4 run, with a commanding 25-13 lead.

Both teams traded baskets all of the second period. Four straight points from
Bella Stone, was answered by the Buffs with three points, 31-17 Buffs. At the 4:15 mark, the Hounds found four straight free throws, but WT matched scoring taking a 39-26 lead in the locker room.

After two quick baskets from Stone and
Kamirah Decker, the Buffs rattled 11 straight points, pitting the score at 52-30 WT. Eastern battled through the rest of the quarter, closing the 3
rd period at a 57-38 WT.

Starting the fourth quarter, the Greyhounds strung together a 6-2 run. Stone hit a three-pointer, while Decker hit a layup and a free throw, along with a free throw from
Stacy Ajobiewe. However, the Buffs controlled the rest of the game with a 16-6 streak. The Buffs took the contest 75-51.
NOTABLE STATS
- The Hounds posted a field goal percentage of 24.9% (17-69), 17.6% from distance, and 73.9% (14-19) at the free throw line. The Buffs posted a shooting percentage of 40.6% (28-69), 35.7% (10-28), and 9-12 at the foul line.
- Eastern and WT were even on for points in the paint with 26 points each.
- Stice led Eastern's scoring effort with 13 points points each. Decker popped up for 11-point, Stone contributed nine points, and McCurdy added eight points.
- McCurdy pulled down nine rebounds, while Stone collected eight boards.
- Stice and Anasha Hurst led the Hounds with two assists. Stice poked away five steals, and Decker had the lone block.

"We did a nice job limiting their top three scorers today, but WT showed their depth and were firing on all cylinders," said Head Women's Basketball Coach Meghan De los Reyes. "We had the same amount of shots and points in the paint, but had a tough shooting night overall. We look forward to being back at Greyhound Arena on Thursday for our Pink Out game against the defending national champions," said De los Reyes.

- Stone pulled down a personal best eight points along with a career high nine points.

- Eastern return to Greyhound Arena for an out of conference contest, on Thursday, Feb. 17 against #13 Lubbock Christian University. The Hounds will be wearing special pink warm-up gear and jerseys as part of Pink Night.
