FRISCO, TEXAS – Kentrell Pullian of Eastern New Mexico men's basketball has been named 2022 LSC Freshman of the Year, as an announced by the conference office at the 2022 LSC Men's Basketball Awards Banquet at Main Event Frisco in Frisco, Texas on Wednesday evening. Additionally, Pullian was named to the 2022 LSC All-Freshman Team.
Pullian had an outstanding first season with the Greyhounds leading the team in scoring with 12.0 points per game and rebounds per game with 5.2. The Benton Harbor, Mich. native dished out a team high 3.3 assists, and finished the season with 288 points, 124 rebounds, and 78 assists. This past season Pullian scored a career high 25 points against Lubbock Christian, pulled down 10 rebound and dished out eight assists against DBU (all tied a single season high for Eastern).
Pullian is the first Greyhound to receive the LSC Freshman of the Year Award since Joshua Jackson received the South Division Freshman of the Year Award in 2006, and just the fifth Greyhound to receive this honor. Pullian is the first ENMU men's basketball player to receive a special award from the conference since Rodney Blackmon was awarded the LSC Newcomer of the Year honor in 2013.
Eastern completed the 2021-22 season with a 7-17 record, after missing the whole 2020-21 season due to COVID-19 restrictions. The Hounds closed the season with its biggest win of the year, a 23 point victory over Western New Mexico, 87-64, under second year head coach
