ALAMOSA, Colo. – Eastern New Mexico men's soccer capped off a trip to Colorado with a win over Adams State, 2-1.
Both scores for ENMU came in the first half for the Hounds.
Alexandre Meres got Eastern on the board first off a great cross from
Mathieu Beuvain who took the ball into the attacking zone from 40 yards out and found Meres to give the Greyhounds the lead in the 21
st minute.
Jaime Oliva received a pass in the 35
th minute and set the ball at his feet. He took two steps and drilled a shot in the net from outside the 18-yard box. His goal pushes his point total to nine on the year, which leads all individuals in the Lone Star Conference.
"First our thoughts are with
Tim Wilkening who picked up a serious injury in the first half. Overall, it's a frustrating result as we did not cash in on 8-10 quality attacking chances," said head coach
Brandon Misuraca. "We now have 17 days to prepare for our conference slate."
Paul Waschkau got the start in goal for the Hounds and he finished with three saves. Since he became the starting keeper, ENMU has gone unbeaten over the four-game stretch.
Eastern takes a 17-day break before they begin conference play on the road at St. Mary's on October 1.
