The Greyhounds welcome St. Mary's University for an LSC clash

PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico Women's Soccer program will entertain St. Mary's University on Homecoming Weekend, this Saturday, Oct. 1, with kickoff slated for 12 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

Last week, Eastern picked up its first win of its Lone Star Conference schedule, taking down Texas Woman's University, 1-0, on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Emma Hafenbrak found the decisive goal 15 minutes from the final whistle to earn the Greyhounds three points. More recently, ENMU fell in a close home contest against #25 Angelo State 1-0.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

On the season the Greyhounds hold a 3-6 record, with four goals scored, 5.3 shots per game, with 47.9%. On defense, Eastern are conceding 1.22 goals per game with opponents scoring on 7.6% of shots. ENMU keepers have produced 59 saves this season, holding a 0.843 save percentage.

Eastern have had four different goal scorers this season: Tori Galindo, Kelsey Medina, Abby Ditzler, and Hafenbrak. Galindo and Ditzler lead the team with six shots, while Hannah Grady, Kelsey Medina, and Kelsey Medina each have five shots this season. Samantha Jeffries has played every minute for the Greyhounds this season in net. The keeper has made 59 saves so far this season holding an 84.3% save percentage.

Around the conference, Eastern hold some of the top marks in the LSC for defense. Jeffries leads the conference with 59 saves on the season, helping ENMU lead the conference. Additionally, Jeffries holds an .843 save percentage (2nd best in the Lone Star Conference).

SCOUTING THE RATTLERS

The Rattlers come to Portales, N.M. with a 7-2-1 season record, while holding a 1-2-1 conference standing. Recently, St.MU played out a 0-0 draw with Texas Woman's University. Before that, St. Mary's were dealt a 1-0 defeat against #25 Angelo State University.

Overall, St. Mary's are the top scoring team in the Lone Star Conference with 25 goals but have only scored in one of its last four games. St.MU also lead the conference with 20 assists this season, averaging 17.7 shots per game, with 86 shots on goal this season. Defensively, the Rattlers allow just 0.70 goals per game, making 27 saves, with a 0.794 save percentage.
 
Juni Ejere is the top scorers for St. Mary's and one of the top scorers in the LSC. Ejere has tallied eight goals this season, along with three assists, totaling 19 points this season. Megan Copeland is also a threat in the final third, scoring four goals and contributing four assists (a team high for assists). Rebecca has started each match as the Rattlers goalkeeper, making 26 saves on the season so far.
