Women's Soccer and West Texas A&M End Match In Goalless Draw

The Greyhounds led West Texas A&M 21-9 in shots

CANYON, Texas – Eastern New Mexico Women's Soccer played out a back and forth 0-0 draw in its season finale against West Texas A&M on Tuesday afternoon at The Pitch at Buffalo Sports Park. The Greyhounds end the season at 1-12-5, with a conference record of 0-10-2. The Lady Buffs shift to 1-9-6 overall, while holding a 0-7-4 LSC standing.

ENMU was quick out of the gate firing four shots on target in the first 20 minutes of the match. The Lady Buffs struggled to find any opening, recording just two shots in the opening period. ENMU continued to fire shots at goal as the period continued, but the scored remained 0-0 at the break.
 
The start the second half, WT found four shots on goal during the opening 10 minutes of the period. From that point, the game opened up with both teams having their chances at goal. Late in the match, ENMU had a few chances to open the scoring but couldn't find the target, keeping the match scoreless in the end.

NOTABLE STATS

  • Nina Ballesteros led the team with six shots in the match, while Haley Huff, Sierra Villanueva, and Abby Ditzler each had three shots. Samantha Jeffries posted six saves in the match for ENMU.
  • Reagan Matacale led the Lady Buffs charge with three shots on goal in the match. Viviana Gomez followed behind with two shots and one shot on goal. Regan Heelan stopped all seven shots that they faced during the match.
  • ENMU led the match for shots (21-9), while just holding the edge for shots on goal (7-6). Both teams reached double-digits for fouls, with WT committing 15 fouls and ENMU fouling 13 times.
