Women's Basketball Falters Against UT Tyler, 76-48

Deja Adrian paced the team 14 points and five rebounds

TYLER, Texas – Eastern New Mexico Women's Basketball faced a tough game on Thursday evening, falling to UT Tyler 76-48 at Louise Herrington Patriot Center. The Greyhounds fall to 4-5 overall with a 0-3 conference record, while the Patriots improve to 7-3 along with a 3-0 LSC record.
 
Both teams matched baskets to start the game, with Deja Adrian finishing at the basket while getting fouled (4-3 UTT). From there, the Greyhounds were held offensively with the Patriots going on a 13-2 streak midway in the period. Ashley Shipley connected on a pair of threes before the end of the quarter, trailing 21-11. After an Adrian three-pointer started the second quarter, UT Tyler went on a 17-2 streak over a 4:48 stretch (UTT 38-16). Eastern matched UT Tyler for scoring to end the 2nd quarter, with Jaz Salon, Deairah Mays, and Jamila Nansikombi-Gunter all finding the nylon (UTT 44-26 at the half).
 
The Patriots took control in the third quarter, outscoring Eastern 23-7 with the Greyhounds producing one field goal. UT Tyler held a 67-33 lead after the third period. In the final frame, the Greyhounds held UT Tyler to just one field goal in the final ten minutes to outscore the Patriots 15-9 in the fourth quarter. The game finished 76-48 in favor of UT Tyler.
