PORTALES, N.M. – Former three-sport student-athlete at Eastern New Mexico, Darrelyn McCloud Sr., has been named the president of the Greyhound Club for 2023-24.
McCloud was a member of the track and field, basketball, and football programs at ENMU from 2013-15. The Albuquerque, N.M. native spent the last year as the organization's vice president.
"My family is the reason I do what I do," said McCloud on his election. "I would love to increase Greyhound Club memberships and enhance the educational and athletic pursuits of Eastern New Mexico University."
He is married to Ashlee McCloud who competed on the women's basketball and track and field squads for Eastern. They have two children, Darrelyn Jr. and A'yahlee.
He is currently the owner of Snapfitness and Ashlee is an elementary teacher.
"Darrelyn will bring a new sense of energy and leadership that will grow the organization," said immediate past president Rose Robbins. "He will continue to rebuild the group while helping raise money for student-athlete scholarships."
At ENMU, McCloud totaled three interceptions, 30 tackles, and one touchdown over 21 games.
On the hardwood, he played 21 contests and started in three. He averaged 1.7 points per game and made ten field goals. His best game came against Texas A&M-Kingsville (1/14) where he scored seven points and swatted a shot attempt.
He helped the 4x100 squad earn a fifth-place slot at the 2015 LSC track and field championships. His top 100m time of the season came at the Texas Tech Red Raider Open where he crossed the finish line in 11.26s.
His appointment at president began in July 2023 and continues for the fiscal year.
