SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

  • Eric Belcher begins their second season for the Greyhounds, collecting a record of 5-10-2 in 2022. Picking up three more wins, compared to 2021, Belcher brings in their first recruiting class for the upcoming season with 19 new Greyhounds, taking the squad from 22 student-athletes to 33 names on the team sheet. A mixture of first years (nine) and college transfers (10) makes up the recruiting class for Belcher.
  • Key returners include Graduate Student Kinsie Mitchell, playing 16 of the 17 games last season, nearly playing the full 90 minutes in every match. Samantha Jeffries was reliable in net for ENMU, playing every game last year with a LSC best .842 save percentage and 5.94 saves per game. Emma Hafenbrak and Abby Ditzler return after finding the net in 2022, while Haley Huff and Sierra Villanueva both contributed an assist last year.
  • For new recruits, Abbie Dickens returns to their home state after spending two seasons at Grambling State, while Sarah Tate and Raegan Dash both come to ENMU from Hill College. Caley Adams joins to ENMU after a standout high school career at nearby Clovis High School, while Aislenn Whitzel joins from Carlsbad, N.M. following a first team all-state senior season with Carlsbad HS.

SCOUTING ADAMS STATE

  • The Grizzles look to start the season on the right foot Thursday after a 4-11-1 record in 2022. ADSU potted nine goals last season, while allowing 35 goals defensively. Alex Greco begins their second season for ADSU and holds a roster of 39 student-athletes to call upon.
  • Adams State retain top goal scorer Karlee Caballero, picking up three goals and an assist last season. Kylie Chavez is also an important outfield player, recording the third most minutes among returners with 989.
  • In goal, Ashlyn Bartley played every minute of the 2022 season. The netminder played all 16 games with 67 saves and five shutouts during the year. As a first year, Bartley posted a 2.19 goals against average, and a 0.657 save percentage.

SCOUTING FORT LEWIS

  • ENMU will serve as the season opener for Fort Lewis this weekend, with the Skyhawks playing Monday against Adams State. The Skyhawks had a tremendous season in 2022 with a 6-11-2 standing, but qualified for the RMAC Tournament with a 5-6-1 conference record.
  • FLC returned two RMAC All-Conference honorees, Sabrina Reyes and Elizabeth David. Reyes was the third leading scorer for Fort Lewis, striking three goals in 2022 on 11 shots on goals. Meanwhile, David played 1627 minutes in defense, starting every game of the season, and adding a goal and assist. The gloves are up for grabs in net with Riley Bravin and Katlyn Rosenbaum battling for the starting spot. Both keepers combined for 990:00 minutes in 2022 with six starts between them.
  • As for the rest of the roster, Head Coach Damian Clarke recruited 12 new members of the program. The class features 11 new members to collegiate soccer with one junior college transfer. The roster consists of 32 student-athletes (11 first years, 10 juniors, nine sophomores, and two seniors).
