Pitch Preview - WSOC: Lubbock Christian and UT Tyler

ENMU begin conference play this week, starting at Greyhound Stadium

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Women's Soccer begin conference play this week, with one contest at Greyhound Stadium and one match on the road. The Greyhounds begin the week with a home contest with Lubbock Christian on Wed. Sept. 20, with kick-off at 7 p.m. Then, ENMU travel to Tyler, Texas to face UT Tyler on Sat. Sept. 23, with a 12 p.m. (MST) start time.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

  • Eastern New Mexico enter the contest at 1-2-3 following a 2-0 defeat against Colorado Christian. ENMU's goalkeeper, Samantha Jeffries, made nine saves in the contest (a season best).
  • Entering conference play, the Greyhounds have scored six times this season with 43 shots and 21 shots on goal. Defensively, the Greyhounds are allowing 11.3 shots per game, and have given up 10 goals through the first six games.
  • Four different Greyhounds have scored this season, with Sydney Saxon and Emma Hafenbrak each scoring twice. Haley Huff leads the team with a pair of assists, while also scoring once. Additionally, Huff leads the team in shots this season with nine and shots on goal (five). Jeffries has played every match this season in net, making 23 saves with GAA average of 1.54. Their 3.83 saves per game is the 4th best in the LSC.

SCOUTING LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN

  • The Chaparrals most recently picked up a win over Wayland Baptist, 2-0, in their last match. With the win, LCU have a 3-1-2 record and haven't lost since their season opener against Colorado Mesa (3-0, 9/1/23).
  • LCU is one of the top offensive teams so far this season, standing in the top-5 in the LSC for shots per game (6.57, 2nd), goals (14, 2nd), and assists (12, 2nd). Lubbock Christian's defense is also strong, allowing just seven goals this season in six games, while making 25 saves (3rd best in the LSC).
  • Lexi De La Cruz has taken the season by storm, leading the team with five goals and five assists. Five assists from De La Cruz leads the LSC, while their five goals is second in the LSC. Graycen Rasmussen and Emily Douglas have each scored twice this season, with Maya Quinones grabbing two assists. Kara Murray has emerged as the first choice in goal, making 24 saves with a 0.774 save percentage.

SCOUTING UT TYLER

  • UT Tyler starts their conference schedule on Wednesday against St. Mary's on the road. The Patriots enter the weekend at 2-1-2 following a loss to Ouachita Baptist, 2-1, and a draw with Harding, 1-1.
  • As a team, the Patriots have been strong defensively, with a pair of shutouts and just four goals allowed (4th best in LSC) in five games. On offense, UT Tyler has scored six times with an average of 15.0 shots per game. From those six goals, three assists have been attributed.
  • Leading the Patriots in goals, Brooke Mullins has two goals, while Maddie Higgins, Alexia Moreira, Alyssa Palisi, and Sienna Skinlo each have one goal. Melissa Oliveira is the main provider with a pair of assists this season. Mullins leads the attack with nine shots and six shots on goal. In net, Daniella Wilken has started each game this season making 11 saves in 233:05 minutes, while Emily Clark also has 11 saves in 216:55 minutes.
