Women's Soccer Playout 1-1 Draw To Conclude Colorado Weekend

Haley Huff scored the Greyhounds goal in the 20th minute

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Eastern New Mexico Women's Soccer picked up a 1-1 tie with Fort Lewis College on Saturday afternoon at ASU Soccer Field. The Greyhounds earn their second draw of the season (0-0-2), while Fort Lewis take a draw from its season opener.

The Greyhounds got off the mark first, with Haley Huff converting from close range in the 20th minute. Abbie Dickens split the defense with a through ball, with Huff dragging a left footed shot across the goalkeeper. Fort Lewis pressed for a tying goal over the next few minutes, scoring in the 32nd minute. The score stayed level at halftime, 1-1.
 
 
In the second half, Fort Lewis pressured the Greyhounds from the start of the period. The Skyhawks continued to pepper the Greyhound goal but were held from creating clear chances. ENMU's defense allowed just five shots in the second half, with none of them going on target. Each team took a point from the game, finishing at 1-1.

NOTABLE STATS

  • Huff marked their name on the scoresheet with a goal, with Dickens providing the assist. Huff also led the group for shots (two), while Raegan Dash and Jayden Romo also recorded a shot on goal. Samantha Jeffries made three saves in net, while facing 12 shots on the afternoon.
  • Amber Otts scored the tying goal for the Skyhawks, with Aubrey Swindle setting up the score. Riley Bravin played the first 45 minutes in net allowing one goal with two saves, while Katlyn Rosenbaum played the final 45 minutes in goal. Rylee Rustad was issued a yellow card in the 85th minute.
  • Fort Lewis controlled the match with 12 shots (six shots on goal), compared to the six shots of ENMU (three shots on goal).

"We came out strong and got the goal! Had a bit of mental lapses and gave them a lifeline, but overall pleased with the day," said Head Women's Soccer Coach Eric Belcher.

  • Huff's goal in the 20th minute was their first in an ENMU uniform, while Dickens tallied their first assist as a Greyhound.
