Fort Lewis Sneaks Past Men's Soccer, 3-1

Two goals in the span of 10 minutes in the second half lifted Fort Lewis past ENMU

DURANGO, Colo. – Eastern New Mexico Men's Soccer were taken down 3-1 by Fort Lewis College on Saturday evening at Dirks Field. ENMU slip to 1-1-0 on the season, while the Skyhawks move to that same record.

The Skyhawks were quick from the first whistle, scoring in the 11th minute with a well placed effort that fell just inside the far post. Now trailing, Eastern turned up the pressure with Ignacio Lopez firing a shot just high after. Then, Mathieu Beuvain cut in front a Fort Lewis pass and struck the ball into the back of the net. The keeper was wrong footed via a deflection, but the Greyhounds tied up the contest going into half time at 1-1.

In the first five minutes of the second period, Eastern came close again with I. Lopez missing just wide and Beuvain forcing a save from the keeper. With just 20 minutes remaining in the contest, the home team finished two chances in front of net to put the out of reach. Both goals came from a through ball from the center leading to one-on-one with the goalie. In the end, the contest ended 3-1 for Fort Lewis.
