PORTALES, N.M – In a game that needed overtime, Cameron University slipped by Eastern New Mexico Women's Basketball, 72-68, on Thursday evening at Greyhound Arena. With the loss, the Greyhounds drop down to 4-9 on the season, while holding a 0-7 conference standing. The Aggies improve to 4-10 overall on the campaign, with a 2-6 Lone Star Conference record.
A low scoring first period saw Cameron jump out to an early advantage, taking an eight-point lead following eight straight points. The Greyhounds stopped any further offensive action for the rest of the period, with five straight points from
Jamila Nansikombi-Gunter to end the 1
st quarter, 12-9 CU. Eastern start the second quarter on the front-foot, scoring five straight points to take the lead. From then, both teams traded points until ENMU went on a 6-0 run to take a 24-19 lead. Cameron tied the game heading into the locker room, ended the frame with a 7-2 streak.

The Greyhounds caught fire to start the second half, with
Ashley Shipley and
Vanessa Oduah hitting a pair of threes. After an ENMU basket made the game 36-30, the Aggies closed the quarter with seven straight points to take a 37-36 lead going into the fourth frame.
Jaz Salon tied the game with a deep three to begin the fourth period, with both teams going back and forth from that point. With three and a half minutes to play,
Deja Adrian hit a pair of free throws and a three-pointer to build a six-point lead, 53-47. However, Cameron closed the quarter on an 8-2 stretch to tie the game, with a missed last second layup from ENMU sending the game to overtime.

After an opening jumper from
Ishuana Hunter started the overtime for Eastern, Cameron posted eight unanswered points to take a 63-57 advantage. Both teams traded baskets to continue overtime, with the Aggies holding on to slim advantage. Eastern got within two points of Cameron, but the Aggies held on in overtime against the Greyhounds, 72-68.

- From the field, ENMU finished shooting 32.4% from the floor (23-71), 6-30 from behind the arc (20.0%), while holding a 76.2% percentage at the foul line (16-21). The visitors supplied an even 50.0% shooting percentage (24-48), taking just seven three's and making four of them (57.1%), and connecting on 20 of 26 attempts at the foul line (76.9%).
- Eastern held the advantage on the glass (39-32) and in the turnover department (18-23), forcing 17 steals compared to the nine of CU.
- Hunter turned in a double-double performance with 16 points and 13 rebounds, both team highs. Adrian was not far behind with 15 points and five rebounds, along with three steals. Shipley provided a team high five assists and four steals, along with 10 points and five rebounds.

- Hunter supplied their first double-double of the season with a season best 13 rebounds and pouring in 16 points. Shipley notched a career best five assists, along with a season high four steals. Adrian supplied a season best eight made free throws and 10 free throw attempts.
- The back a fourth contest featured 13 lead changes and 11 times where the score was tied. ENMU held a lead as big as six, while the Aggies' biggest lead was just eight points.
