ENMU continues home stretch with RMAC opponent Adams State

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Women's Basketball welcomes Adams State tomorrow evening, Tuesday, November 19, at 5 p.m. in a non-conference clash at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.

SERIES INSIGHT

  • ENMU and ADSU meet up for the 13th time in program history, while coming together in Portales for the first time since 2006. Both teams have six wins in the first twelve meetings.
  • The Greyhounds and Grizzlies played out a tight affair in Alamosa last season, as late free throws propelled ENMU to a 70-58 victory. Jaz Salon poured in a team best 21 points during the game, finishing 8-12 from the field with three three-pointers.
  • Historically, the winning team of this match up has won by double-digits with three of the 12 meetings finishing in single-digits (last time: 2/18/06-ADSU 85, ENMU 76).
  • This will be the 5th meeting in Portales, with the Grizzlies holding a 3-1 edge over the Greyhounds.
  • Both programs first played each other in 1981, when Adams State claimed a 95-76 home victory over Eastern in a postseason matchup (3/10/81).

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

  • The Greyhounds enter the game Tuesday following one of the largest wins in program history during their 129-39 victory over Navajo Tech. This season, ENMU is 3-1 overall after the first two weekends.
  • Eastern are scoring 82.3 points per game, while giving up 57.8 ppg. The Greyhounds have won the rebounding battle in each of their first four games, averaging 48.0 rpg. For percentages, the Greyhounds are averaging 45.3% from the field, 31.6 % from behind the arc, and 75.5% on free throws.
  • Leading the Greyhounds in points and rebounds, Kaitlyn Edmondson paces the Greyhounds with 14.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg. The Flower Mound, Texas native also has a team high seven blocks and 12 made free throws. Jaz Salon and Nataya Lockett add 10.3 ppg.
  • Ishuana Hunter contributes 4.5 rebounds per game, Jayla Smith pulls down 4.3 boards per game, while Salon and Abbi Holder find 4.0 rpg. Salon paces the group with 2.7 apg and 3.0 spg.

SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES

  • Adams State currently stand at 3-2 on the season, playing (RV) Harding and #23 Fort Hays State, along with LSC foe Midwestern State. Recently, the Grizzlies overcame a poor shooting performance against Nebraska-Kearney to win 65-58 while shooting just 33.3 %.
  • The Grizzlies have a scoring margin of +0.4, averaging 63.2 ppg and allowing 62.8 ppg. In terms of percentages, ADSU is shooting 35.7% from the field, connecting on 26.3% of attempts from deep, and 69.5% at the foul line.
  • Taejhuan Hill is averaging close to a double-double with 14.0 ppg and 9.4 rpg, while Kiiyani Anitielu has a team high 14.2 ppg.  Angelline Nageak has a 9.6 ppg, leading the team in three-point shooting with 10 made threes this season.
