CANYON, Texas – Eastern New Mexico Softball wrapped up the weekend with a run-rule victory over CSU-Pueblo, 10-2 (5 Inn.). The Greyhounds shift to 7-1 overall, while CSU-Pueblo drops to 1-8 on the season.

After two blank frames to start the game, the ENMU offense started to make solid contact in the third inning.
Valeria Contreras and
Chanler Groves both reached base with no outs and moved into scoring position on wild pitches.
Judith Osuna dropped a single into right to score the first run for ENMU. The next batter,
Alondra Vasquez produced a bunt single to score Groves from third.
Taighen Whitzel pushed home another run on an RBI fielder's choice, as ENMU led 3-0 after three innings.

Shortly after, the Thunderwolves put up a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to make it a one run game. Eastern responded in the bottom of the inning, scoring six runs producing a handful of hits and four free bases.
Madison Begaye started the scoring with a 2-run double, then Contreras tripled down the right field line to score Begaye. ENMU picked up three more runs in the inning on a pair of double steals, and a RBI walk from
Sydney Loyet.

Eastern escaped two-runners in scoring position in the top of the 5
th inning and scored the walk-off run in the bottom of the inning to win the game. Begaye singled to start the frame, then Contreras moved them to second base on a sacrifice bunt. A wild throw from the CSU-Pueblo defense on the sacrifice allowed Begaye to score from first base, ending the game 10-2 in five innings.
NOTABLE STATS
- The Greyhounds finished the game with seven hits, while the Thunderwolves only had a pair of hits.
- Five different Greyhounds had a hit, with seven different student-athletes scoring a run. Grace Rofii and Begaye each had two hits, while Begaye picked up a pair of RBIs. Osuna, Begaye, and Contreras scored twice, and Loyet drew two walks in both of their at bats.
- Jordan Rivera tossed a complete game in the circle, finishing five innings with two hits and two runs allowed, while recording six strikeouts.
- For the Thunderwolves, Marissa Robertson started the game and finished three innings in the loss. Robertson was responsible for seven runs (six earned), giving up six hits. Jacelynn Trujillo finished the game for CSU-Pueblo, allowing three runs on just one hit and four walks.

"This weekend was a great opportunity for the team to see many different looks in the circle, before starting conference play," said Head ENMU Softball Coach Amanda Fefel. "I like how the team batted and won in the bottom of the 7th yesterday in a close ball game. It's never easy playing at 11:30 at night, but they stayed focused and overcame their circumstances to get the win," said Fefel. "Overall, it was a great weekend for us to head into LSC play,".
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Begaye posted their first hits and RBIs of the season, while Osuna scored multiple runs in a game for the first time this season. Rofii finished with multiple hits in a game for the second time this season.
- Rivera threw their first complete game of the season, going a season long 5.0 innings. The Greyhounds pitcher also logged a season high of six strikeouts.
- Eastern New Mexico begin conference play next weekend, traveling to Texas A&M International. The three-game conference series begins on Friday, Feb. 16, with a doubleheader set for 11 a.m. (MST) and 1 p.m. (MST). The series concludes on Saturday, Feb. 17, with the teams meeting at 11 a.m. (MST).
