Oklahoma Christian Slips By Women's Basketball, 59-58

Greyhounds posted a season high 20 steals during the game

PORTALES, N.M – A jumper and free throw with one second in the game lifted Oklahoma Christian over Eastern New Mexico Women's Basketball, 59-58, on Thursday evening at Greyhound Arena. ENMU slips to 8-17 overall, while holding a 4-15 conference standing. Meanwhile, the Eagles move to 5-19 on the season, with a 4-16 LSC record.

Oklahoma Christian started as the better team, racing out to a 14-4 lead. The Greyhounds stopped the 9-0 run with an Ishuana Hunter jumper while Deja Adrian ended the quarter with a pair of layups and a free throw (16-11 OC). To begin the second quarter, the Greyhounds posted a 14-2 streak over the opening five minutes of the second period, taking a 25-18 lead. Following a Oklahoma Christian basket, the Greyhounds sparked a 9-0 streak with Jaz Salon ending the quarter with a three-pointer (34-22 ENMU).
 
Out of the halftime intermission, Oklahoma Christian turned up their defensive effort, cutting the gap to six points with just under five minutes to play. At the end of the 3rd quarter, the Greyhounds lead was just four points, 49-45. Both teams started to lock up defensively, with baskets hard to come by. After both teams traded baskets to start the period, the Eagles brought the game level with two free throws with 1:55 remaining. ENMU regained the lead after an out of bounds play with 38 seconds left, with Adrian cutting to the cup. ENMU resisted three Oklahoma Christian attempts to tie the game, but a put back layup with one second left tied the game for OC, while getting fouled. The Eagles made the free throw and a last second heave from ENMU didn't fall, as the Eagles slipped away with a 59-58 win.
