Baseball Drops Doubleheader With Cameron, 5-3 & 6-1

Strong pitching pushed Cameron past ENMU in both games of a doubleheader on Saturday.

LAWTON, Okla. – Eastern New Mexico Baseball faced tough pitching during a pair of defeats against Cameron University in a doubleheader at McCord Field. In game one, the Aggies held onto a 5-3 victory, as the Greyhound put the tying run on second base in the 7th inning but couldn't push them across. During the second game, six runs in two innings allowed Cameron to win the game 6-1. ENMU falls to 12-13 overall, with a 10-13 conference record. The Aggies improve to 7-20 overall, while sporting a same LSC record.

GAME ONE: CU 5, ENMU 3

Cameron pushed across a run in the first inning, with a pair of walks and a hit-by-pitch loading the bases with no outs. A ground out double-play forced a run home for the Aggies to take a 1-0 lead. Entering the 4th inning, neither team had produced a hit with Cameron still leading 1-0. Daniel Pruitt singled to earn the first ENMU hit, but the Greyhounds still trailed 2-0 after four innings with Cameron scoring a run on an error.

Eastern New Mexico got on the board in the 5th inning, with Beau Preston leading off with a double. Preston later came around to score on a Dylan Shea fielder's choice, as Preston slid under the tag during the play at the plate. ENMU went on to take the lead after a fielder's choice, combined with an error scored two runs, 3-2 ENMU.
