SILVER CITY, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Women's Basketball closed out the 2023-24 season with road win over Western New Mexico, 53-45, on Saturday afternoon at Drag's Court. The Greyhounds end the season with an 11-17 record, finishing in 11
th place in conference action with a 7-15 standing. The Mustangs fall to 9-18 overall, finishing conference play with a 4-18 record.
ENMU got to work quickly taking a 11-6 lead midway through the quarter.
Ishuana Hunter began the scoring with a jumper,
Jaz Salon added a three, then two more Hunter buckets and a
Deja Adrian layup put ENMU ahead. The scoring slowed as the first quarter ended 11-8 ENMU. The home team started the second quarter with a 9-5 run to take the advantage, 17-16 WNMU. Adrian restored the lead with an and-one layup to put ENMU ahead 19-17. The Greyhounds closed the half with a pair of Hunter jumpers, while a late three from Adrian put ENMU ahead 26-21 at halftime.

Western New Mexico cut the ENMU lead to just one point to start the third quarter, 28-27 ENMU. Adrian and Hunter pushed the ENMU lead back up to seven points, but WNMU pushed the game back to one possession at the end of the 3
rd quarter (39-37, ENMU). To start the final period, ENMU scored the first five points to extend the lead, but the Mustangs moved the score to 46-42 ENMU with six and a half minutes to play. The turning point came with an Adrian and-one layup, sparking a 7-0 personal streak for Adrian to get the Hounds lead up to 11 points (53-42). The game finished 53-45, as ENMU closed out the season with a road victory.
NOTABLE STATS
- ENMU finished shooting 42.0% from the floor (21-50), connected on half of their three-pointers (3-6, 50.0%), posting a 61.5% free throw percentage (8-13). The Mustangs sported a 29.7% field goal percentage (19-64), finishing 2-16 from range (12.5%), while posting a 45.5% free throw percentage (5-11).
- Western New Mexico controlled the glass (40-28), while ENMU provided a game high 10 assists, with both teams finding eight steals.
- Adrian and Hunter lead the Greyhounds to victory, scoring 40 of ENMU's 53 points. Adrian finished with a game high of 25 points (9-16 FG, 6-7 FT), while Hunter provided 15 points and 14 rebounds. Salon chipped in with three points, four rebounds, a team best four assists, along with two steals. Alecia Whyte finished with a team best three steals, adding five points.

"I thought that was one of the most effort games we've played all season," said Head Women's Basketball Coach Blake Huber. "Our players played extremely hard today and deserve credit for a big rivalry win. Deja (Adrian) really ended their career on a super high note scoring 25 points," said Huber. "Ishuana (Hunter) also came up big for us with her double-double. I'm glad we could end the year on a three-game winning streak and send our seniors out with some big wins," said Huber. "This team faced a lot of adversity this year and I'm glad we could end it on a high note. The future is bright for our program," said Huber.

- Adrian secured their sixth game of the season with 20 or more points, while recording their third game with 25 points or more.
- Hunter supplied their fifth double-double of the season, while pulling down a career best 14 rebounds.
- The Greyhounds complete the 2023-24 season with an 11-17 record, holding a 7-15 LSC record in the first season under Huber. ENMU graduates five seniors: Ashley Shipley, Whyte, Vanessa Oduah, Adrian, and Alexandria Sariñana. ENMU has eight Greyhounds able to return, including key contributors Salon and Hunter.
