PORTALES, N.M. – Midwestern State earned a series finale win over Eastern New Mexico Softball, as the Greyhounds fell 3-0 on Friday afternoon at Greyhound Softball Field. The win supplies a series win for the Mustangs. The Greyhounds shift to 20-18 overall with a 13-17 LSC record. Midwestern State improves to 7-29, with a 5-22 conference record.
The Mustangs scored quickly with a leadoff double then a two-run home run scored both runs to give MSU a 2-0 lead. Both teams found base runners hard to come by following the first inning, with each team getting a hit over the next two frames. Midwestern State extended their lead to 3-0 after bringing in a run on a hit-by-pitch. A double, hit-by-pitch, and single loaded the bases with no outs, with the second hit-by-pitch of the inning scoring the run.

Eastern made one last attempt for a comeback in the 7
th inning, having runners on the corners with one out. Midwestern managed the final inning to take the series and the game over Eastern, 3-0.
NOTABLE STATS

- Taighen Whitzel sported two of the Greyhounds hits, while Mikenzey Patterson and Grace Rofii also tallied a base hit.
