LUBBOCK, Texas – Eastern New Mexico Baseball concluded the 2024 season on Sunday afternoon during a 9-4 loss against #18 Lubbock Christian at Hays Field. With the loss, LCU takes the series against the Greyhounds 4-0. Eastern finishes the season at 21-29 overall, along with a 19-29 conference record. Meanwhile, Lubbock Christian closes out the regular season with a 36-14 record, along with a 35-13 conference standing to win the LSC Regular Season Title.

The Greyhounds opened the scoring in the first inning, after
Willie Ponce forced home a run on a fielder's choice.
Luciano Terilli began the inning with a walk and
Jonathan Baileys followed with a single. Ponce grounded to shortstop and beat out a bad throw on the double play attempt, bringing Terilli around to score. Both teams went back and forth over the next two innings, with the Greyhounds scoring a pair of runs on a wild pitch and a Ponce groundout. Lubbock Christian kept pace with Eastern, scoring three runs over three innings to tie the game.
Eastern did sweep back the lead in the 4
th, with three bases runners reaching base in a row.
Demetrio Archuleta started the inning with a hit by pitch,
Tucker Gideon singled to left field, while
Cooper Hamilton pulled a ball through the right side to score the run. However, from this point the Chaps recaptured the lead and slowly built an advantage. LCU scored a pair of runs in the 5
th inning, then added single runs in the 5
th and 6
th frames, well scoring twice in the 8
th inning. ENMU got a handful of bases runners on during the LCU surge but couldn't score with the game ending 9-4 LCU.
NOTABLE STATS
- The Chaps provided 13 hits, compared to the Greyhounds nine hits. Beau Preston and Archuleta each finished with a double in the game for ENMU.
- Archuleta, Gideon, and Hamilton all finished with a pair of hits, while Terilli reached base four times with a single and three walks (scoring twice). Both Hamilton and Ponce finished with an RBI.
- Griffin Almond takes the loss as the starting pitcher, conceding five runs on seven hits with four walks. Six other pitchers took the hill for the Greyhounds, with Zach Raichel and Noah Rodriguez tossing a scoreless inning each. Anthony Gonzalez and Maddux Edmonson were each tagged for a run, while Austin Dunn allowed two runs in their outing. Terilli induced a groundout against the only batter they faced.
- Coleson Abel earned the win for the Chaps, tossing 3.2 innings of relief with eight strikeouts. Chris Shull started the game, lasting four innings and allowing four runs from six hits. Logan Ellis threw a scoreless inning, and Colton Brown picked up the game's final out.

- The Greyhounds conclude the season with a 21-29 overall record, supplying a 19-29 LSC record to finish 10th. Eastern will lose seven graduating seniors: Nyles Duren, Rodriguez, Gonzalez, Ruger Bravo, Hamilton, Dunn, and Rutger Poiry.
- Head Coach Riley Price completes their 4th full season with ENMU, while leading the team in five seasons overall.
