Men's Soccer Tripped Up Against #17 Southern Nazarene

The Greyhounds played Southern Nazarene for the first time since 2018

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Eastern New Mexico Men's Soccer (1-2-2) suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of #17 Southern Nazarene (3-1-1) on Thursday evening at Stang Park.
 
The nationally ranked Crimson Storm opened the scoring after just 15 minutes, then doubling their advantage a few minutes late to hold a 2-0 lead inside the first 25 minutes. Cesar Solis potted both goals for #17 SNU in the opening half, with the Greyhounds trailing 2-0 at the break.
In the second frame, Unaiz Shajani scored twice (58th minute and 71st minute) to wrap up the contest for the Crimson Storm as the Greyhounds fell 4-0. Catalin Nastuta made a pair of saves in goal, while eight different Greyhounds had a shot during the match.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE

  • The two teams meet for the first time since 2018, with SNU winning their first ever match in the series history.
  • Giani Mascarel and Rodrigo Velasco made their season debut for the Greyhounds, both playing over 20 minutes from the bench.
  • Eastern return to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 21, with an afternoon duo for #14 Fort Hays State. Kickoff from Stang Park is scheduled for 11 a.m. (MT)/12 p.m. (CT).
