PORTALES, N.M. – Lone Star Conference play begins this week for Eastern New Mexico Volleyball, as the Greyhounds head to Odessa, Texas on Thursday, Sept. 26 to play UT Permian Basin with first serve at 5 p.m. (MST) / 6 p.m. (CST). Then, Eastern travels to Western New Mexico in Silver City, N.M. to battle the Mustangs on Saturday, Sept. 28, with the afternoon match beginning at 2 p.m.

- Both games this weekend will be broadcast on FloSports. SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
- The Greyhounds enter the weekend following a pair of wins during the 2024 LSC Crossover. First, Eastern battled back to beat Sul Ross State 3-1, then the Greyhounds went the distance with Western New Mexico to win 3-2 over the Mustangs. Overall, ENMU stand at 3-8 overall at the start of LSC action.
- Darcy Dodd has a team high 3.22 k/s, while Sophia Valdez contributes 2.27 k/s for the Greyhounds. Cayla Reyes also feature highly for the offense, posting a team best 4.68 a/s. with Abigayle Falefia adds 3.12 a/s.
- On defense, Imahni Brown is finding a team high 4.35 d/s, currently sitting 8th in the LSC for digs per set. Dodd is second best for digs for ENMU with 3.05 d/s, while Halle Sanders contributes 2.54 d/s.
- The Greyhound's blocking is putting up 1.62 b/s, led by Brianna Hernandez with over 1.00 b/s. (T-6th in LSC). Valdez (0.63 b/s) and Randi Crandall (0.61 b/s) also are big contributors to the blocking effort.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
- UT Permian Basin currently hold a seven-game winning streak, with a 7-2 overall standing. Recently, the Falcons took a pair of 3-0 sweeps against Texas A&M International and Lubbock Christian.
- Three student-athletes spearhead the Falcons attack, with Kennedi Wright (2.75 k/s), Chyra Thompson (2.45 k/s), and Gloria Geurin (2.30 k/s) leading the offense. Jenna Gray leads the Falcons for assists with 5.85 a/s, totaling 193 assists overall. Canyen Rodriguez is close behind with 4.23 a/s.
- The Falcon's defense has been standout to begin the season, as Gabby Gregorski leads the team and the LSC with 5.47 d/s. Gray also contributes with 2.76 d/s. For blocking, three Falcons are in the top 10 in the LSC for blocks per set. April Egwu (1.24 b/s) leads the team and LSC, while Thompson (1.13 b/s) and Lauren Demuth (1.00 b/s) each are prominent for UTPB.
- The Greyhounds and Falcons matchup for the 22nd time in program history. UTPB have had recent success over Greyhounds, winning the last seven matches. The Falcons lead the overall series 13-8 over ENMU.
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
- Western New Mexico matches up with ENMU a week after meeting at the 2024 LSC Challenge. WNMU finished 1-2 over the LSC Challenge weekend, picking up a 3-0 win over Sul Ross State. The Mustangs hold a 4-7 record entering the weekend, facing #10 West Texas A&M on Thursday before facing the Greyhounds.
- Jazmyne Walker paces the offense, finding 139 kills with 3.32 k/s. Eimaya Medina leads the team in assists, averaging 6.16 a/s for the Mustangs.
- Leading the defense, Lilouann Bechec averages posts 4.77 d/s with a 205 total digs. Jade Rampton and Jessica Salas are the teams' leaders for blocks, with 0.63 b/s and 0.57 b/s, respectively.
- Recently meeting this past weekend, ENMU holds 1-0 season series lead after beating the Mustangs 3-2. The all-time series stands at 35-16 in favor of the Greyhounds, while ENMU has a 9-5 record against the Mustangs in Silver City.
