PORTALES, N.M. – For the first time since 2021, Eastern New Mexico Women's Soccer will open its season at home, playing Adams State Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. at Al Whitehead Field at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium. The program has partnered with student life for margarita night (non-alcoholic) and free t-shirts for fans (while supply lasts).
TUNE IN
- The game will be broadcast on FloSports. FloSports is the central location to watch Lone Star Conference live and on-demand events, offering a $14.99 per month pass or $99.99 per year pass. Additionally, those who use a .edu email address from an LSC member institution will be able to sign up at a discounted subscription price of $9.99 per month or $69.99 for the year.

SERIES INSIGHT
- In the all-time series, the Greyhounds have a 5-4-1 edge, dating back to the first matchup in 2003.
- Eastern are unbeaten in their last three games against Adams State, with two wins and a draw.
- The team's matchup against each other in Portales for the first time since 2019, marking the sixth game in Portales between the programs.
- ENMU has shutout the Grizzlies four times overall, including the last two meetings.
- The first ever meeting was a 2-0 win for Adams State on Aug. 31, 2003 in Alamosa, Colo. This was the second game in program history for ENMU Women's Soccer.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
- The Greyhounds were selected 13th in the Lone Star Conference (LSC) preseason poll, with Abby Ditzler, Sierra Villanueva, and Yaritza Pelayo all being named players to watch.
- Eastern had a large shuffle, with 24 newcomers joining the Greyhounds including 17 true freshmen. ENMU did return minutes leader Sarah Tate, while Villanueva had a goal and an assist in 2023.
- Pelayo is the lone returner of the four goalkeepers listed on the roster, playing just a handful of minutes in 2023.
- Head Coach Eric Belcher is unbeaten in opening day matchups as the Greyhounds head coach. Belcher opens the season at home for the first time in his coaching tenure with the Greyhounds.
SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
- Adams State finished 9th in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) preseason poll, following a 3-9-5 record, and 2-7-3 RMAC record in 2023.
- The Grizzlies bring back top goal scorers Colette Tena (3 g, 1a) and Karlee Caballero (3g), along with points leader Athena Huggins (2g, 3a).
- Ashlyn Bartley started all but one game for Adams State in 2023, playing 1375:01 minutes in 2023 and returns in between the post for the Grizzlies.
- The Grizzlies will head to Texas after Thursday's match, taking on Lubbock Christian on Saturday afternoon.
