Volleyball Wraps Up Weekend In Colorado

ENMU next plays at the Yellow Jacket Classic, hosted by Black Hills State in Spearfish, S.D.

PUEBLO, Colo. – Eastern New Mexico Volleyball closed its Colorado weekend with a pair of defeats at the 2024 Steel City Showcase, falling 3-0 to Cal State East Bay and CSU-Pueblo at Massari Arena.

CSUEB 3, ENMU 0 (24-26, 17-25, 22-25)

Darcy Dodd accounted for a third of the Greyhounds kills, posting nine kills during the match while adding a team high seven digs.

Sophia Valdez chipped in with five kills, while Randi Crandall added four kills and two total blocks. Cayla Reyes provided 12 assists and a team best two service aces.

Defensively, Imahni Brown supplied seven digs, while Teryn Foote and Halle Sanders each had two block assists.

CSU-P 3, ENMU 0 (20-25, 20-25, 15-25)

Leading the Greyhounds, Dodd paced the team in kills (11) and digs (7).

Reyes added to the offense with 14 assists, while Valdez contributed six kills.

From the service line, Crandall had a pair of service aces, while four other Greyhounds provided one ace.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • The Greyhounds played Cal State East Bay for just the first time in program history.
  • ENMU faced the Thunderwolves for the first time since 2018.
  • Next up, the Greyhounds travel to Spearfish, S.D. for the Yellow Jacket Classic, hosted by Black Hills State. During the two-day tournament, Eastern will face Sioux Falls and Black Hills State (Sept. 13), then play Minnesota Crookston and South Dakota Mines (Sept. 14).
