PORTALES, N.M. - Eastern New Mexico University's volleyball team heads into a crucial road trip this weekend looking to build on their recent success after snapping a five-match losing streak with a victory over New Mexico Highlands on Monday.
ENMU will face Sul Ross State (2-11, 0-7 LSC) on Thursday, October 16, seeking to replicate their previous straight-sets victory against the Lobos earlier this season. The Hounds will then travel to face Western New Mexico (8-9, 3-4 LSC) on Saturday, October 18, looking to hand the Mustangs its fourth consecutive loss.
Sophia Valdez continues to lead the Greyhounds' offensive attack this season with 203 kills, ranking fourth in the Lone Star Conference with 3.44 kills per set while maintaining a .195 hitting percentage.
Addison Bartlett has contributed significantly with 127 kills (2.27 per set) and 150 digs (2.68 per set), providing valuable two-way play for ENMU.
Defensive specialist
Imahni Brown has anchored the back row with a team-high 262 digs, ranking sixth in the LSC with 4.44 digs per set, while also leading the team with 22 service aces.
Amya Speller has been a force at the net for Eastern with a team-leading 45.0 blocks (0.76 per set), ranking 14th in the conference, alongside 88 kills this season.
Violeta Flores has orchestrated the offense with 295 assists (5.09 per set), while
McKenzie Hart has contributed 60 kills and 28.0 blocks to the Hounds' efforts this season.
The Greyhounds (4-13, 1-5 LSC) have shown competitive balance in several statistical categories, matching opponents closely with 669 kills (11.34 per set) compared to opponents' 670 (11.36 per set). ENMU has also recorded 595 assists (10.08 per set) versus opponents' 585 (9.92 per set), though they face challenges with a .125 hitting percentage compared to opponents' .201.
