Serving It Up: Volleyball hosts home-opener against Texas Woman's and DBU

Greyhounds at home for first time in 2025

PORTALES, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico volleyball team has all eyes set on its 2025 home-opener as the Greyhounds host Texas Woman's at 6 p.m. on October 3, followed by DBU on October 4 at 2 p.m., inside the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena for a pair of conference matches.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
•    Eastern New Mexico comes into its home-opener after going 1-1 on the road this past weekend to start conference play. ENMU defeated Texas A&M International on Friday 3-1 before snapping a three-match win streak to Texas A&M-Kingsville in straight sets.
•    Sophia Valdez leads the team with 149 kills on the season and is 3rd in the LSC in kills per set at 3.55 while freshman teammate Addison Bartlett has registered 103 kills (28th in LSC) and 2.45 kills per set.
•    Transfer middle blocker Amya Speller leads the team with 30 total blocks and has added 60 kills while hitting a .238 clip.
•    Violeta Flores is averaging 5.22 assists per set with a total of 214 on the season.
•    Imahni Brown collected her 500th career dig as a Greyhound on September 20, in a 3-1 win over Western New Mexico. Brown leads the team with 192 digs and is sixth in the conference, averaging 4.57 digs per set. Teammate Addison Bartlett is close behind at 122 and has added 103 kills on the year.
•    The Greyhounds sit 9th in the conference in service aces, averaging 1.64 per set and 69 on the season. ENMU sits 9th in the conference in digs per set at 15.93 with 669 total on the year.
•    Looking ahead, the Greyhounds have a short turnaround when Lubbock Christian comes to Portales for a conference match up next Tuesday. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.



SCOUTING THE PIONEER
•    The Pioneers come in to the weekend with an 8-5 overall record and 1-1 in conference play. The Pioneers lost to TAMUK in straight sets before defeating DBU 3-1 in Denton, Texas this past Saturday. 
•    TWU is led by Myracle Stockman who sits 21st in the LSC in kills per set at 2.70 and 119 on the season. Jonaida Donowa sits second in the conference at 1.21 blocks per set and 51 on the year. Trinity Blackwood is close behind at 0.80 blocks per set.
•    Kiana Reed paces the team with 284 assists on the year while teammate Cat Millsap leads the team with 17 serving aces. 
•    TWU leads the overall series over ENMU, 29-21.

SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
•    DBU comes into the contest boasting a 6-3 overall record and 0-1 in LSC play.
•    The Patriots fell to Texas Women's this past Saturday in four sets.
•    Karly Wells leads the conference and is second in the nation at 5.08 kills per set (the next closest is Currie Marusak from West Texas A&M at 3.58) and has tallied 183 on the season. Wells is also first in the conference and second in the nation at 5.76 points per set.
•    Aizlyn Dewberry leads the team with 34.0 total blocks (25 assisted). Blue Anderson has registered 186 digs on the year.
•    DBU leads the series over ENMU 10-4, with the last time the Greyhounds defeated the Patriots was in 2014.
