Serving It Up: Greyhounds take on RV Angelo State

Greyhounds head to San Angelo for confeence match against the Belles

PORTALES, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team will travel to San Angelo, Texas to face Angelo State, who is receiving votes in the national polls, in a Lone Star Conference matchup on Friday. The Greyhounds enter the contest with a 4-18 overall record and 1-10 mark in LSC play, while the Belles come in at 15-7 overall and 9-2 in conference action.
 
ENMU is looking to snap a five-game losing streak, with their last victory coming against New Mexico Highlands on Oct. 13. The Greyhounds most recently fell to Midwestern State in straight sets on Tuesday night.
 
Sophia Valdez continues to be a bright spot for the Greyhounds, ranking third in the LSC with 273 kills (3.64 per set) while maintaining a .203 hitting percentage. Addison Bartlett has contributed 154 kills (2.17 per set) and ranks second on the team with 196 digs (2.76 per set).
 
Defensively, Imahni Brown leads ENMU with 337 digs (4.49 per set), ranking seventh in the conference, while also recording a team-high 24 service aces. Amya Speller has been a force at the net with a team-leading 57.0 blocks (0.76 per set).
 
The Greyhounds have recorded 835 kills (11.13 per set) compared to their opponents' 878 (11.71 per set) this season. ENMU has posted a .120 hitting percentage while allowing opponents to hit .206. The team has tallied 755 assists (10.07 per set), 104 service aces (1.39 per set), 1,123 digs (14.97 per set), and 123.0 blocks (1.64 per set).
 
Angelo State enters the match riding a two-match winning streak, most recently sweeping Western New Mexico 3-0 on Tuesday. The Belles are led by Madi Parrish with 259 kills (3.32 per set) and Julia Hopkins, who averages 4.65 kills per set. Defensively, Ireland Ferguson anchors the back row with 310 digs (4.03 per set).
 
Following the road match in San Angelo, the Greyhounds will travel to UT Permian Basin on Saturday, Nov. 1, for another conference contest.
