Eastern New Mexico recognizes 11 seniors in matchup with TAMUK

Greyhound football loses season finale to Javelinas, 45-28

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico recognized 11 seniors during the season finale against Texas A&M-Kingsville. TAMUK closed out the year defeating ENMU, 45-28, behind a balanced passing attack featuring a school record in total receptions in a single game.

"Proud of our seniors," said head coach Kelley Lee. "We wish them the best as they begin a new part of their lives."

The class featured Jonathon Carter, Christian Griego, Joshua Kauvesi, Shawn Pepp, Dalton Flowers, Oiseowemi Aghomon, Unaloto Kaufusi, Dillon Hein, Ryan Travis, Aaron Acosta-Lewis, and Vee Williams.

On the field, one of the conference's top passing offenses prevailed. The Javelinas threw for 363 yards on 31-of-40 attempts. TAMUK's Jack Turner threw two touchdown passes and had one interception. The pick came on his first throw of the afternoon with Eastern New Mexico's Matthew Quartieri picking up the interception. He added 14 tackles with 1.5 for loss on the day.

For just the second time this season, ENMU did not win the time of possession battle. TAMUK controlled the ball for nearly 35 minutes. The Javelinas also did an excellent job extending drives as they went 7-of-15 on third down and 3-of-3 on fourth down conversions.

Eastern started with the ball to open the game and had executed a clean drive until a fumble inside the 15-yard line that was scooped up and saw the Javelinas score the first touchdown  of the game. ENMU would tie it up before the quarter ended on a two-play drive that began in the redzone thanks to the interception from Quartieri.

The rushing attack stayed consistent for ENMU. Demarion Finch led the way with 16 carries for 126 yards and one touchdown. However, most of his production came in the first half. Jarius Stewart added 17 carries for 93 yards and a score. William Reynolds also ran in for a touchdown for Eastern.

Passing, ENMU had Stewart complete one pass for 75 yards to Gerry Gomez that went for a touchdown. Chad Ragle also connected with Gomez for an 11-yard throw.

Defensively, Dylan Quartieri was second on the team with 13 tackles. Freshman Armad Bailey had two pass breakups and seven tackles. Elijah Thorp added seven tackles, including one for loss. DJ Moore and Adrian Melvin finished with five tackles.

Ryan Travis went a perfect 4-for-4 from point after attempts.

Eastern New Mexico finishes the 2025 season with a 3-8 (3-6 LSC) mark. It is the most wins in conference action since 2019.
