LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Eastern New Mexico women's basketball team fell to Western Washington, 44-40, in a defensive struggle Friday afternoon at the CSN Event Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Greyhounds (6-4, 3-0 Lone Star) managed just 40 points, their lowest scoring output since Nov. 24, 2023, when they fell 49-37 to CSU Pueblo. Western Washington (10-2, 2-0 Great Northwest) now holds a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series between the two programs.

Junior forward
Julieta Ceja led ENMU with a team-high 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. Ceja also recorded three steals in 34 minutes of action.

Senior guard
Nataya Lockett provided a spark off the bench with eight points on 3-of-11 shooting. Junior guard
Aaliyah Smith contributed seven points while
Toyah Montgomery added four points in 18 minutes of action in her first game with the Hounds this season.

As a team, the Greyhounds struggled offensively, shooting just 22.2 percent (14-of-63) from the field, including 18.8 percent (3-of-16) from three-point range. Eastern did connect on 69.2 percent (9-of-13) from the free-throw line.

The Vikings were led by Libby Stump with nine points and 10 rebounds, while Olivia Hodges added nine points and 16 rebounds. Western Washington shot 30.4 percent (14-of-46) from the field in the defensive battle.

Eastern New Mexico outscored Western Washington 20-16 in points in the paint. The Greyhounds also forced 25 turnovers while committing 15 of their own.

ENMU will remain in Vegas and will play Simon Fraser tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. Simon Fraser defeated New Mexico Highlands 69-68 this afternoon.
