ENMU opens league play Thursday against Cameron

PORTALES, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team will host Cameron University for a Lone Star Conference matchup on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 5:30 p.m. MT at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.
 
The Greyhounds (3-3, 0-0 LSC) are coming off a 68-64 non-conference victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State on Monday evening in Portales. Junior guard Julieta Ceja led all ENMU scorers with 20 points, including a sharp 3-for-4 performance from beyond the arc, while adding four rebounds.

 

Nataya Lockett recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while also contributing three steals and an impressive 9-of-10 showing from the free-throw line. Tatiana Platonova rounded out ENMU's top performers with 13 points, four rebounds and a team-high five assists.
 
Individually, Aaliyah Smith leads the Greyhounds with 12.8 points per game while shooting .500 from the field and recording 13 steals on the season. Ceja averages 11.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game with seven steals and an outstanding .583 three-point shooting percentage. Chloe Dallas contributes 10.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game with five blocks and a .553 field goal percentage.
 
As a team, ENMU averages 75.2 points per game compared to opponents' 67.2. The Greyhounds shoot .415 from the field and .345 from three-point range, while opponents shoot .446 and .293, respectively. ENMU holds a slight rebounding advantage at 35.0 per game versus 34.7 for opponents.
 
The Greyhounds excel defensively, forcing 21.5 turnovers per game while committing just 16.8. ENMU also leads the LSC in steals with 12.7 per game compared to opponents 7.2.
 
Cameron (0-6, 0-0 LSC) enters the contest searching for its first win of the season following an 83-56 loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State on Nov. 25. Madison Griggs leads the Aggies with 20.3 points per game and has recorded 15 assists while shooting .457 from the field. Kloe Heidebrecht averages 10.5 points per game, while Ayonna Cooper contributes 5.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game with an .857 free-throw percentage.
 
The Aggies average 58.8 points per game and shoot .362 from the field and .240 from three-point range. Cameron holds a rebounding advantage at 41.3 per game and leads in blocks with 5.5 per contest.
 
ENMU leads the overall series 30-18 and won the last meeting between the teams last season in Portales, 82-54.
