INDIANAPOLIS – Eastern New Mexico Women's Basketball has landed 5
th in the second NCAA South Central Region Ranking Poll, released Wednesday afternoon.
The Greyhounds are one of six Lone Star Conference (LSC) programs, sitting fourth among LSC teams. Lubbock Christian, Texas Woman's, and UT Tyler make up the top three, while Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) regular season champions Colorado Mesa sit in 4
th place. West Texas A&M follows ENMU in 6
th, while Black Hills State (7
th) and Adams State (8
th) wrap up the top eight places. Angleo State (9
th) and UCCS (10
th) stand outside the top eight with the final week of the regular season and conference tournaments still to play.
The top eight programs in each region will earn a spot in the NCAA Regional Tournament, with one more ranking expected to be released prior to the LSC Postseason Tournament next week. The final selections will be announced during the selection show, taking place on March 9 at 8:30 p.m. (MST), and will be streamed on NCAA.com.
Eastern New Mexico earn their highest ranking since being ranked second during the 2016-17 season. That season, the Greyhounds ended up as the 6
th seed in that season's regional tournament.
Eastern have confirmed their place in the LSC tournament this past weekend, earning the 4
th seed. ENMU holds a 19-8 record, 14-7 LSC record, with one game to play in the regular season, facing West Texas A&M on the road tomorrow evening, Thursday, February 27. First tip is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. (MST)/5:30 p.m. (CST).
