Woman's Basketball Ranked 5th In Final Regional Ranking Poll

The Greyhounds sit 5th for the second consecutive week

INDIANAPOLIS – Eastern New Mexico Women's Basketball has been ranked 5th in the final NCAA South Central Region Ranking Poll, released Wednesday afternoon.

The Greyhounds are one of six Lone Star Conference (LSC) programs, sitting fourth among LSC teams. Lubbock Christian, Texas Woman's, and UT Tyler make up the top three, while Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) regular season champions Colorado Mesa sit in 4th place. West Texas A&M follows ENMU in 6th, while Adams State (7th) and Angelo State (8th) wrap up the top eight places. Black Hills State (9th) and CSU-Pueblo (10th) stand outside the top eight with only conference tournaments left to play.

The top eight programs in each region will earn a spot in the NCAA Regional Tournament, with the final selections being announced during the selection show, taking place on March 9 at 8:30 p.m. (MST), and will be streamed on NCAA.com.

Eastern New Mexico land in the #5 spot for the second consecutive week, with the Greyhounds highest ever ranking being second during the 2016-17 season. Eastern finished as the 6th seed in that season's regional tournament.

Eastern begin play in the Lone Star Conference Tournament tomorrow evening, facing (5) Angelo State on Thursday, March 6 at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (MST). The Greyhounds finished the regular season with a 20-8 record, and a 15-7 LSC record, recording the 5th 20-win season in program history.
