ENMU takes on Southwestern Oklahoma State, Fort Lewis, CSU Pueblo, and Lubbock Christian at the Chap Invite

PORTALES, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team will participate in the 2025 LCU Chap Invite in Lubbock, Texas. The Greyhounds are scheduled to take on Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday, Fort Lewis and CSU Pueblo on Friday, and fellow LSC member and host Lubbock Christian on Saturday.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
  • Eastern New Mexico comes into 2025 following a 5-22 standing in 2024. ENMU landed in 14th place in the 2024 Lone Star Conference Preseason poll.
  • The Greyhounds roster features 14 newcomers, with Sophia Valdez, Imahni Brown and Nevaeh Rodriquez returning to the lineup.
  • ENMU finished the Mustang Invite with an overall 0-4 record after dropping matches to New Mexico Highlands, Sul Ross State, Fort Lewis, and host Western New Mexico.
  • Sophia Valdez leads the team with 39 kills (17th in LSC) while freshman teammate Addison Bartlett has registered 38 kills (21st in LSC).
  • Transfer middle blocker Amya Speller leads the team with six blocks and has added 18 kills while leading the team with a .295 hitting percentage.
  • The Greyhounds will head back to Silver City, N.M. next weekend for the LSC Challenge.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
  • This year's squad features six freshmen alongside seven returners, highlighted by seniors Cameron Turner, Hailey Smith, and Paris Patterson.
  • The Bulldogs are led by Kaylyn Christy (36 kills, 2.57 per set), Smith (34 kills, 2.27 per set), and Patterson (33 kills, 2.20 per set). 
  • Defensively, the Bulldogs are led by Jada Permenter with 65 digs and Katja Blanchat with 21 blocks.
  • SWOSU leads the overall series 4-6 over ENMU.
SCOUTING THE SKYHAWKS
  • Fort Lewis College comes into the tournament with a 3-1 overall record with its only loss of the season coming to the hands of Western New Mexico in five sets and the programs best start since 2017.
  • The Skyhawks are led by Ella Butler (37 kills, 2.85 per set), Cambria Freymuth (34 kills, 2.62 per set, eight serving aces), and Jordan DeJesus ( 24 kills, 2.18 per set).
  • Defensively, FLC is led by Pomroy with 73 digs and Butler with five blocks.
  • FLC leads the series with ENMU 8-4.
SCOUTING THE THUNDERWOLVES
  • The Pack come into the weekend with a 1-3 overall record with its lone win coming against LSC member Texas A&M International.
  • CSU Pueblo is led by Caelyn Gunn with 58 kills (4.46 per set) 47 digs.
  • Defensively, the ThunderWolves are led by Megan Mattingly (53 digs) and Finja Schul with eight blocks.
  • ENMU leads the overall series against CSU Pueblo, 16-6. The last time the Greyhounds defeated the ThunderWolves was on August 31, 2018 in five sets in Austin, Texas.
SCOUTING THE LADY CHAPS
  • Lubbock Christian is projected to finish 8th in the in the Lone Star Conference (LSC) preseason poll, following a 13-14 overall record, and 9-7 conference record in 2024. The Lady Chaps qualified for the LSC Championships for the first time since 2021.
  • Senior right-side hitter Lily Bickley (809 career kills) headlines a strong returning core alongside fellow seniors Payton Murray and Bryleigh Schweer and junior Tatum Fleitman, giving LCU four of its top five kill leaders back.
  • ENMU and LCU will meet for the 67th time with ENMU holding a 34-32 edge.
