The Greyhounds head to Silver City for rematches with Sul Ross State and Western New Mexico

Portales, N.M. - The ENMU volleyball team travels to Silver City, N.M. to take part in the 2025 LSC Challenge hosted by Western New Mexico as the Greyhounds prep for rematches with Sul Ross State on Friday and Western New Mexico on Saturday.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
•    Eastern New Mexico comes into 2025 following a 5-22 standing in 2024. ENMU landed in 14th place in the 2024 Lone Star Conference Preseason poll.
•    The Greyhounds roster features 14 newcomers, with Sophia Valdez, Imahni Brown and  and Nevaeh Rodriquez returning to the lineup.
•    ENMU finished the Chap Invite with an overall 0-4 record after dropping matches to Southwestern Oklahoma State, Fort Lewis, Colorado State University Pueblo, and host team Lubbock Christian.
•    Sophia Valdez leads the team with 95 kills on the season and is 7th in the LSC in kills per set at 3.39 while freshman teammate Addison Bartlett has registered 66 kills (21st in LSC) and 2.36 kills per set.
•    Transfer middle blocker Amya Speller leads the team with 18 blocks and has added 37 kills while leading the team with a .255 hitting percentage.
•    Imahni Brown leads the Greyhounds defense with 119 digs on the season and is currently 13th in the LSC in digs per set at 4.25.
•    Looking ahead, the Greyhounds will  start conference play with a long trip next weekend in road matches against Texas A&M International on Friday and Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday.



SCOUTING THE LOBOS
•    The Greyhounds and the Lobos will play a rematch from the opening weekend where the Lobos defeated ENMU 3-1 at the Mustang Invite in Silver City, N.M.
•    Freshman Addison Bartlett led the way for the Greyhounds posting a double-double with 13 kills (.278) and 11 digs in the last meeting.
•    SRSU has not played since the Mustang Invite where the Lobos finished with an overall 2-2 record with wins over Western New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico and losses to New Mexico Highlands and Fort Lewis.
•    The Lobos are led by Samantha Senak with 30 kills while teammate Cassandra Espinoza has tallied 29 on the season.
•    BreAnna Quarles leads with 57 digs and Eliana Mata leads the team with 48 assists on the year.
•    ENMU leads the overall series 24-12.

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
•    Western New Mexico comes into the tournament with a 4-4 overall record after going 2-2 at the Mountain Lion Classic in Colorado Springs, Colo.
•    The two teams faced-off in the opening weekend of play at the Mustang Invite where the Mustangs won in straight sets. 
•    Bartlett finished just one kill away from a double-double with 13 digs. 
•    The Mustangs are led by Kaitlyn Salgado with 73 kills while Daphne Posthumus has tallied 70 on the season. Brynlee Barris are recorded 62 for the Mustangs.
•    Defensively, WNMU is led by Mikelle McAfree with 122 digs on the year and Posthumus with 33 blocks.
•    ENMU leads the series with WNMU 35-18.
