Eastern New Mexico drops a pair of matches on day one of Mustang Invitational

Sophia Valdez recorded back-to-back double digit kills in the two matches for the Greyhounds

SILVER CITY, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team dropped its season opening matches on Friday to New Mexico Highlands and Sul Ross State at the Mustang Invitational in Silver City, N.M.
 
NMHU 3, ENMU 1 (28-26, 20-25, 19-25, 20-25)
  • Freshman Addison Bartlett led the way for the Greyhounds posting a double-double with 13 kills (.278) and 11 digs.
  • Sophia Valdez also posted a double-double with 10 kills (.242) and ten digs.
  • Freshman Violeta Flores led the Greyhounds attack with 19 assists while adding three serving aces and six digs.
  • Imahni Brown led the defensive efforts with 12 digs and added two serving aces.
  • The Greyhounds out hit the Cowgirls with 48 kills to NMHU 44 kills. ENMU also posted a .208 hitting percentage compared to NMHU at .200.
 
SRSU 3, ENMU 1 (17-25, 23-25, 25-18, 15-25)
  • Valdez led the Greyhounds attack with 13 kills on a .423 clip.
  • Freshman McKenzie Hart tallied ten kills on the evening while teammate Addison Bartlet added 14 digs.
  • Brown recorded 22 digs on the night with a pair of serving aces.
  • Flores dished out 22 assists and recorded 5 digs.
