Greyhounds set for clash with No. 11 Lubbock Christian

PORTALES, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico women's basketball team will put its six-game winning streak on the line as it travels to Lubbock to face #11 Lubbock Christian University. Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. CT inside the Rip Griffin Center.
 
Eastern enters the matchup as one of the hottest teams in the Lone Star Conference, having won 11 of its last 12 games. The Greyhounds are coming off a 66-54 road victory over Midwestern State on Thursday in Wichita Falls.
 
In that contest, senior guard Shay Moseberry recorded her first double-double as a Greyhound, posting 13 points, a team-high 11 rebounds, and five steals in a dominant two-way performance.
 
Senior forward Chloe Dallas provided a spark off the bench with 17 points on efficient 8-of-14 shooting, adding four rebounds, two steals and one block in 23 minutes of action.
 
Junior guard Aaliyah Smith rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points while dishing out a team-high five assists and grabbing two rebounds.
 
The overall series between the two programs is narrowly led by Eastern, 24-23. However, the Lady Chaps have controlled the recent history, holding a 9-1 advantage over the last 10 matchups.
 
Individually, Dallas leads the Greyhound attack, averaging 12.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient .615 from the floor. Dallas has also contributed 10 steals and eight blocks on the season.
 
Julieta Ceja contributes 10.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest and remains a threat from deep with a .471 three-point shooting percentage while tallying 19 steals.
 
Nataya Lockett rounds out the top scorers with 10.5 points per game and leads the team in playmaking with 28 assists and 27 steals.
 
As a team, the Greyhounds boast one of the deepest rosters in the country, leading the LSC and ranking second in the nation in bench points per game (38.7). Eastern averages 74.4 points per game while holding opponents to 58.7. The Hounds shoot .415 from the field compared to opponents' .383 and connect on .331 of their three-point attempts while limiting foes to .307. Eastern holds advantages in rebounding (39.1 to 35.8) and assists (15.4 to 11.7) while forcing 23.4 turnovers per game compared to committing 16.2.

The Greyhounds' defensive pressure has been a hallmark of their success, averaging 13.2 steals per game, which ranks second in the LSC and 18th nationally.
 
Lubbock Christian (14-3, 6-2 LSC) enters Saturday's game looking to rebound after a 70-59 loss to that team from Canyon on Thursday. The Lady Chaps are led by Kennedy Chappell, who averages 16.6 points and 5.2 rebounds while shooting .540 from the field and tallying 70 assists and 30 steals.
 
Meg Meekins adds 14.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while shooting .427 from the field and contributing 38 assists.
 
Martie McCoy contributes 9.2 points and 4.9 rebounds while dishing out 64 assists and shooting .442 from beyond the arc.
 
The Lady Chaps are a high-efficiency offensive unit, shooting .446 from the field and .382 from three-point range. They average 68.1 points per game while holding opponents to 59.5. LCU maintains a strong free-throw percentage of .729 and averages 14.0 assists per game. The Lady Chaps average 32.8 rebounds per contest and commit just 13.4 turnovers per game.
 
Following Saturday's road test, the Greyhounds will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 22, against that team from Canyon.
