Greyhounds rally falls short against UT Tyler, 61-47

ENMU moves to 8-4 in league play

PORTALES, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico women's basketball team mounted a spirited second-half comeback but couldn't complete the rally, falling 61-47 to UT Tyler on Saturday afternoon at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.

Eastern falls to 12-8 overall and 8-4 in LSC play, while the Patriots improve to 14-7 on the year and 10-2 in conference action.

Martrice Brooks paced the Greyhounds' offensive effort, finishing with nine points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field. Brooks was efficient from the charity stripe, converting 3-of-5 free throws, while adding two steals, two rebounds and a block in the losing effort.

Senior forward Chloe Dallas anchored the interior for Eastern New Mexico, recording a team-high eight rebounds to go along with seven points and a steal. Dallas continues to be a primary presence on the glass for the Hounds as they navigate a competitive Lone Star Conference schedule.

The Greyhounds struggled to find their offensive rhythm throughout the contest, posting their fourth-lowest shooting percentage as a team this season.

The Greyhounds found themselves in a significant hole, trailing by as many as 17 points during the second quarter. However, ENMU showed determination in the second half, methodically chipping away at the deficit and cutting the Patriots' lead to just three points with under eight minutes remaining in regulation.

The comeback bid ultimately fell short as UT Tyler closed the game with authority. The Patriots outscored the Greyhounds 15-4 over the final stretch to pull away and secure the road victory.

Eastern New Mexico will look to bounce back as the Hounds hit the road for their next contest. ENMU is scheduled to face Oklahoma Christian on Thursday, Feb. 5, in Edmond, Oklahoma. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m. MT.
