Greyhound baseball closes series versus OC with 13-1 loss

Eastern New Mexico earns first series win of 2026, but falls to Eagles in finale

EDMOND, Okla. – Eastern New Mexico baseball dropped the series finale to Oklahoma Christian, 13-1, Sunday afternoon.

"Their pitching did a good job at keeping us off balance," said head coach Riley Price after the loss. "It's hard to beat a team four times … baseball is one of the most humbling sports."

A windy, sunny day provided some difficulty for Eastern New Mexico. They were held to one run on one hit and five walks. Seven Greyhounds struck out in the game. Alan Koester got the start on the mound for OC and threw 102 pitches over six innings of action. He forced seven flyouts and three groundouts.

Oklahoma Christian had no problem coloring the scoreboard. They scored in five of the six innings they batted in. OC opened the first two frames by scoring three runs in both the first and second.

Eastern New Mexico's only run of the game came in the third. After a double play, Cole Curtis was walked on four-consecutive pitches and Adrien Martin drove in Curtis on a triple to right center. That was Martin's first triple this season and third of his Eastern career.

The Eagles outhit the Hounds, 15-1. Shortstop Justin Spencer led his team with three hits and was a triple away from hitting for the cycle. Five other OC players had two hits on the day. Spencer, Jontae Hennesy, and Trey Migl all hit homers in the win.

Charlie Pierson got the start for Eastern New Mexico and dropped to 1-7 on the year. He allowed six runs on seven hits and a walk. He only went two innings of work. Jedadiah Trudeau and Jose Carranza also pitched for ENMU. Trudeau gave up seven runs over 3.1 innings and Carranza managed to get both batters he faced out.

In comparison to the other games of the series, the finale was much cleaner defensively as both teams only committed a single error each. However, the wind caused issues for ENMU and several popups carried through the wind allowing OC to earn hits on defensive miscues from the visitors.

Eastern New Mexico now prepares for a four-game series beginning April 2 versus St. Mary's. The homestand will feature one game on Thursday, two on Friday, and one on Saturday. More information is available at www.goeasternathletics.com
