Laredo, Texas - The Eastern New Mexico baseball team dropped the opening game of a four-game series to Texas A&M International on Friday afternoon, falling 4-3 in a tightly contested matchup at the Jorge Haynes Field.

Adrien Martin provided the offensive spark for the Greyhounds, going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, two RBI and two runs scored.
Logan Martin also contributed a multi-hit performance, finishing 2-for-4 on the day.
Nicholas Miller,
Eiji Sawamura and
Ryan Weaver each added a hit for Eastern.

On the mound,
Demitrius DiMatteo (3-3) went the distance for the Greyhounds, pitching a complete game while allowing four runs on six hits with two strikeouts. DeMatteo faced 32 batters and threw 116 pitches in the effort.

Texas A&M International struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. The Greyhounds answered quickly, knotting the game at 1-1 with a run in the top of the fourth inning.

Eastern seized momentum in the top of the fifth when A. Martin launched a two-run home run to give the Greyhounds a 3-1 advantage. However, the Dustdevils responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 3-3.

Texas A&M International pushed across the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 4-3 lead. The Greyhounds managed just one hit over their final four at-bats as the rally fell short.

ENMU will look to bounce back on Saturday as the series continues with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. MT / 1 p.m. CT in Laredo.
