PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico volleyball team hosts its 2026 home opener against Texas A&M International at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 18, followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville on September 19 at 2 p.m., inside the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena to mark the start of conference play for the Greyhounds.
 
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
                The Greyhounds come into its home opener weekend after going 1-1 this past weekend at the LSC Challenge in Laredo, Texas. Eastern defeated Sul Ross State in a long-fought battle of 3-2 on Friday, before falling to Texas A&M International 1-3 on Saturday. Sophia Valdez leads the team offensively with 156 kills, scoring 165 points on the season. Senior, Amya Speller follows closely with 121 kills and posting a .297 hitting percentage while also leading the team defensively with 29.0 blocks, nine of which were solo and 20 assists.
                Freshman Sydney Pipkin has stepped up for the team, leading with 340 total assists, 8.10 assists per set. Pipkin has also recorded 12 service aces, 13 blocks, and 106 digs. Maya Perea is also a key defensive player for the Hounds, recording 101 digs on the season.
                Eastern is currently second in the conference in kills and fifth in assists and digs. The home opener on Friday serves as a rematch for Eastern as they lost to the Dust Devils this past Saturday.

• The Dust Devils hold a 6-5 overall record after going 2-0 this past weekend at the LSC Challenge.
• Mia Molina leads TAMIU offensively with 122 kills
• International holds the lead over ENMU 5-2 after defeating Eastern in the LSC Challenge.

 
SCOUTING THE JAVELINAS

• The Javelinas currently hold an overall record of 7-4 after splitting a pair of games this past weekend, falling to Midwestern and defeating Oklahoma Christian.
• Player, Tayae-Renae Garcia leads TAMUK defensively with 223 digs, while also recording 10 service aces and 48 assists.
• Eastern holds the winning record over Kingsville 43-32, with the last match up between the teams resulting in a loss for the Greyhounds.
