As a Junior in 2009 ... Started all 11 games at left tackle, helping to drastically cut down on the sacks allowed during the second year of the spread offense ... Blocking helped the Hounds lead the nation in pass offense and set numerous team, Lone Star Conference, Division II and NCAA records ... Made ESPN the Magazine First Team Academic All-District 6 for the second straight season ... Honorable Mention All-LSC South and Academic All-LSC South ... Made the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters.

As a Sophomore in 2008 … Played in ten games for ENMU … Recorded his first tackle as a Greyhound against Texas A&M Kingsville on Oct. 25, 2008 … Earned First Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 6 and Academic All-Lone Star Conference Honors

As a Freshman in 2007 … Played in 11 games in the 2007 season

Before ENMU … Played four years at Brownwood High School under Coach Steve Freeman … Awarded 1st team all district and Academic All State for his achievements with the Lions … Karlton, a multi-sport athlete, also threw shotput for the track team, and was a regional qualifier in power lifting … Graduated with magna cum laude honors, and was part of the National Honor Society
