Head Coach Riley Price enters his seventh season after being named the fourth head coach in the history of the Eastern New Mexico baseball program in 2019.
Price raised the bar for the Hounds in 2025, posting a 27-23 overall standing with a program best 25-23 LSC record. The season began with a series win over Texas A&M-Kingsville, doing so for the first time in program history. Midway into the season, Eastern split a home series with #4 UT Tyler, taking both games of the doubleheader to shock the Patriots. Statistically, Price guided the Hounds to a handful of program records, including setting the single-season record for home runs (57), walks (272), slugging percentage (.523), and on-base percentage (.445). Both Luciano Terilli and Willie Ponce thrived in the 2025 season under Price's guidance, going on to earn all-region accolades from the ABCA, D2CCA, and NCBWA.Â
In 2024, Price guided the Greyhounds to a 21-29 overall record, along with a 19-29 conference record. The campaign started with a series split with #1 Angelo State University, then ENMU split with #5 West Texas A&M (first split with Buffs since 2006). Eastern set a handful of single-game record record including hits (30) and total bases (49) during a 28-24 win over Arkansas-Fort Smith (4/9). Additionally, ENMU had 28 runs scored (2nd most) and 28 RBIs (2nd most) during the win. Price coached two all-conference honorees (Luciano Terelli, 2nd Team, and Gavin Perry, 3rd Team), along with a conference high three gold glove honorees (Demetrio Archuleta, 2B, Beau Preston, 1B, and Tucker Gideon, OF). Gideon went on to earn ABCA all-defensive team honors.
Price guided the Greyhounds to their first postseason appearance in his tenure during the 2023 season. Eastern secured a place in the LSC Tournament for just the third time in program history, ending the season to the eventual conference and national champions, #1 Angelo State. Overall, Price guided the Hounds to a 23-28 record, and setting a program best 21 conference victories and the best record during the Price era. In the historic campaign, Price guided several Hounds to career years on the diamond, with Jonatan Clough (LSC 2nd Team) and Demetrio Archuleta (LSC 3rd Team) receiving all-conference honors. The program led the nation in triples (28) and triples per game (0.55), while Clough garnered All-Region honors from the National Colligate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), in addition to winning National Hitter of the Week recognition from the NCBWA (4/20). Clough also racked up LSC Hitter of the Week (4/18) and NCBWA South Central Hitter of the Week accolades (4/19) during the season. Eastern captured a series victory over #15 St. Edward's and picked up a four-game sweep over Oklahoma Christian, the teams first sweep since 2017.
During the 2022 season, Price lead the program to (at the time) the most Lone Star Conference wins in program history, finishing with a 16 conference wins. Several individuals had career bests as a 17-31 record was the most wins for ENMU during the Price era. The program captured its largest win ever over #23 Lubbock Christian 16-1 while taking two games from Texas A&M-Kingsville (RV) winning 11-10 in extras and 8-7, both in walk off fashion. Price also oversaw Spencer Roach being awarded LSC Hitter of the Week (Mar. 14) and NCBWA South Central Hitter of the Week (3/15).
During the 2021 season the Greyhounds went 8-30 overall and 7-28 in conference play in a schedule that was played almost entirely on the road. One of the biggest wins of the season was a 10-9 extra inning victory over No. 17 nationally-ranked UT Tyler.Â
In his first season at the helm of the ENMU baseball team, Price led the Hounds to a 3-19 record and matched the 2018 squad’s conference win total despite playing a shortened schedule. Price mentored Ethan Coombes and Trevor Moses who each turned in successful campaigns in 2020.Â
Coombes led the pitching effort for the Hounds and finished with team-highs in innings pitched (35.2) and strikeouts (42). Coombes’ strikeout numbers were tied for the sixth-most in the LSC last season. Moses proved to be one of the team’s best bats and slashed an efficient .309/.407./.435 in 69 at bats. Moses finished with 22 hits, five doubles and a homerun while tallying eight RBI and scoring ten runs.
Price took over the Greyhound baseball program following one season as the head assistant at Minot State University, during which time he helped lead the program to new heights during the 2019 campaign. Prior to his time at Minot State, Price served in assistant roles at Lone Star Conference foe Angelo State, Baker University and Washburn University following a playing career at three different institutions in Washburn, Southern Arkansas and Allen Community College.
Price was instrumental in a historic year for Minot State last season as the program recorded a season record in wins (36) and set the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference all-time single season record for stolen bases as a team with 164, which ranked second nationally. As the lone position player coach on staff, Price was tasked with all offensive and defensive development within the program and directly contributed to an improved offensive season for a Beaver's club that lead the NSIC with 46 home runs for the year and made an appearance in the NSIC Tournament Championship game.
That record-setting club for Minot State finished the year with 89 more stolen bases, 44 more runs scored, 45 more hits and 49 more RBI's under Price's direction than the previous season. Price also assisted in fundraising efforts for the program and served as the Camp/Showcase Coordinator for the club as well.
Prior to his success at Minot State, Price served as an Assistant Coach at Lone Star Conference power Angelo State, amassing a total record of 76-33 during his two years in San Angelo and was apart of a staff that led the Rams to the 2017 Lone Star Conference regular season championship and a no. 1 ranking in the South Central Region standings at season's end. He worked primarily with infielders and catchers and also acted as the Travel Accommodations Coordinator and Equipment Coordinator for the program.
He served in assistant roles at both Baker University and Washburn University prior to his appointment to the staff at Angelo State, gaining valuable experience as the head coach of the Junior Varsity program at Baker and helped create an atmosphere at Washburn that awarded the program as "The Best College for Baseball in 2015-NCAA Division II" by Next College Student Athlete (NCSA).
A national-respected recruiter, Price captured four championships in four seasons while coaching in various collegiate summer leagues, including three years in which he served as the head coach for the Fort Collins Foxes and the Windsor Beavers. His success at Fort Collins led to his recent induction to the Fort Collins Foxes Coaches Hall of Fame.
Price succeeded David Gomez as head coach of the Greyhound baseball program following Gomez's six year run as skipper of the Hounds, during which time the program finished with a record of 123-169 and won their first ever Lone Star Conference Tournament game in 2018. Eastern New Mexico posted the second most wins in program history (32) in Gomez's fourth year.
A native of Berryton, Kansas, Price competed for two top clubs at the Division II level, leading Washburn University in batting average (.370) and RBI's and was a member of the 2012 Great American Conference regular season and tournament championship teams at Southern Arkansas University. He also competed at the junior college level at Allen Community College, earning All-Conference honors at second base after finishing the year with a batting average of .403.
He earned a master's degree in education in 2018 from Angelo State and graduated Cum Laude from Washburn with a bachelor's degree in education as well. He also earned an associate's degree of arts from Allen Community College in 2011.
Price currently resides in Portales N.M. with his wife Stephanie Price.
