2014: Burks had a standout year for the Greyhounds, leading the team from both the field and the plate.
He was a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Honorable Mention All-American selection as well as being named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings and NCBWA All-South Central First Team.
Picked to the All-Lone Star Conference First Team, Burks was named LSC Hitter of the Week back-to-back weeks (Apr. 22 & 28). Playing in and starting 49 games and led team in batting average (.384), hits (71), runs (50), home runs (10) and total bases (116).
Recording 11 doubles and two triples, Burks swiped 11 bases in 16 attempts and finished with a .939 fielding percentage as he made 104 putouts, four outfield assists and seven errors. He began the year by going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and a solo home run in season opener against Adams State (2/7).
Burks is tied for fifth on the all-time ENMU homerun record with his 10 homeruns and 11th on the single season hit record with 71. Burks had three games where he recorded four hits (Tarleton State Apr. 4, TAMUK Apr. 19, Cameron Apr 25). Burks also had a .627 slugging percentage for the season.
Prior to ENMU: Played two years at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, Calif. for head coaches Mike New and Steve Ward. He hit .313 with 30 RBI, 28 runs, nine doubles, three triples and seven stolen bases in 2012 and was an honorable mention Big 8 Conference selection as well as a Big 8 Conference Gold Glove winner in 2011.
