Benjamin Langford

Benjamin Langford makes his return for his fourth season on the coaching staff at Eastern New Mexico and his second season as the Running Backs Coach in 2019.

During the 2018 campaign, Langford coached the Hounds' backs to the fifth-best ground game in all of NCAA Division II, gaining 284.5 yards per game. The Greyhounds best game offensively came in ENMU's inaugural 55-9 Chile Bowl victory over Western New Mexico as the Hounds rushed for 457 yards and seven touchdowns in the victory. The Eastern rushing attack followed it up with a 440-yard, three-touchdown performance in the 28-0 victory at West Texas A&M in the Wagon Wheel Game. Langford mentored a pair of All-LSC backs, including First Team fullback Paul Terry and Honorable Mention running back Johnny Smith.

Before moving to a full-time coaching role, Langford served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for two seasons, first serving as a wide receivers coach in 2016 before moving to the linebackers coach in 2017. During the 2016 campaign, Langford guided the Hounds receiving core to 1177 of the team's 1546 yards receiving, coaching All-LSC Second Team performer Aaron Johnson to a career-high 43 receptions for 848 yards and five touchdowns. Langford made the transition to linebackers coach for 2017, guiding the core group to the third-best total defense in the Lone Star, giving up just 354.8 yards per game and mentored Brad Hardin and Desmond Blue to All-LSC First Team accolades.

Before joining the ENMU coaching staff, Langford produced a stellar two-year career as a player at Eastern. A two-time All-LSC selection at linebacker, Langford played on both sides of the field as a quarterback and linebacker during his time in Portales.

A native of Ottoville, American Samoa, Langford was named the MVP of the 2012 World Bowl and spent two seasons prior at New Mexico Military Institute.Â
